  • VR6 as a daily driver?

After the thread from Tim about getting a new daily driver, it got me thinking who else uses their VR6 as their daily driver? I do but after reading everyones comments....im not sure i should be doing so? I say this because petrol costs are killing me...i use 20 bucks every 2 days and although i love the drive everyday...its not economical to do so and also i dont want to wear the VR out.....

    please express your opinions.......

My daily driver is a Giant Rock5000. Ive been driving the VR this week as Ive been sick. The fuel economy in inner city traffic is terrible (16-18l/100km average from home to work, 5km) and am looking forward to getting back on the bike. If I only use the VR on weekends I get 10-12l/100km. I average less than 200km a week normally, so fuel economy is not much a concern for me.

I use mine as a daily great to drive, but petrol kills me. I'm looking at a mk1 or 2 to use a as run around or something. But I'm scared that the modding bug will get me and I'll want to do that up to
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

Think about the people using Commodores and Falcons! I think it would be quite normal using the VR6 as a daily, but being in a tiny package (relative to a large sedan) you would want to hammer it down so often
          Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
          Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

thats the other thing.knowing that you got all that power and excitement under your right foot but then looking at your petrol gauge you decide not to put the pedal to the metal....i hardly make her growl and i feel bad for it.....dilemmas dilemmas.....

if you get another Vw....you know your gonna mod it......without question....

I drive mine daily, and dont really take any notice of the usuage. the sort of driving i do would give me crap economy in any car so why not drive the VR?

my VR has been my daily since 2002. Really it doesnt use that much fuel unless u compare it to a lil buzz box. certainly just as fuel efficient as any crummydore or falcon out there.
If youre conservative with the loud pedal 10L/100kms aint out of question. it should only go up a couple litres in traffic. Perhaps u guys should stop driving like u stole them?!

yeah i drive mine every day got 240ks on it now, i average 9l/100 thats with a bit of city driving. you can use the torque of the vr and save some petrol. just take it easy on the go pedal till you need it

I think so but it seems comfortable.
