Sad to see mate
Glad you and your gf are ok though... I had my car written off at the beginning of the year (thnx melbourne floods, not a golf either) but on my insurance policy I had the option to buy the car back if written off, which i did. They payed me out and took what I had to pay for the car out of the pay out... Check your policy, it may be written on it, if not, you may have a hard time getting the car back once its gone off to the insurance company... I'm sure if you do get it back and need to make money, there would be plenty of us here needing parts and so on *vulture noises from above* lol

given the car was generally in very tidy condition, getting close to 7,500 shouldn't be too hard. Given this is the upper value for VR's, but hopefully you can get close to that.
I'm hoping it's was insured with the suspension mods. Even though, I think that is your biggest concern.

Well thats the agreed value we had for the car, its not insured as market value. 7500 was the highest they would let us go, even though we payed a little more then that (it was in top condition, 90k kms and pulled much harder then any other I drove, so was well worth the couple grand more then others I saw) but yeah. I don't think the suspension ect was ever listed which is not good :/sigpic

no! ****! ahhh man I'm really sorry to hear. Glad you and your girlfriend are okay, and yeah you better not be done with VWs (hopefully another VR6) if it actually is written off because I've really enjoyed looking at this thread and the way you just get your hands dirty and figure out how to do everything yourself! Anyway I've got hopes for you that it's not written off, I've seen people recover from what looks like it's worse. My mate is getting his Impreza RX fixed after he tried to be Ken Block on a dirt road and crashed the front of it, bending the subframe, radiator gone etc. Good luck mate.'95 Golf VR6 Colour Concept

Hey not that it helps now but I insure all my cars through shannons and ended up doing it with my vr6 as well, the awesome thing about that is that they insure it for agreed value and you retain full salvage rights over any wreck, so if I wreck mine I get to keep whats left of it!Perfect for a vr6 owner (rarer by the minute cars that we have usually spent a bomb on modding!) Hope yours works out dude - we are all interested to see what happens with the undeclared mods i think!

I have big plans (3 door vr6 as you said, but not without a little added spice
), this may actually end up being a good thing, still waiting to hear from insurance though.

Rs's?? Someone bought that set on ebay from here I know it!! Get a cabby like Stu and put the VR6 in that!!

RS's yes, set off ebay? no. They're a rather ratty pair I picked up on these forums for a pretty good price. Theyre filthy and need a rebuild, but thats exactly what I wanted
Going against the trend of 17s that people on this forum seem to be going with, going to build some crazy wide perfectly offset 15's with tiny tyres

The seller didn't mention a couple things such as one of the centre caps being a different size to the others amongst other things, but I've got some time to sort them out, hahasigpic

Haha you're very welcom ffoff. Don't get me wrong, 17s can work when done properly (although honestly I havent seen very many that I think pull them off nicely) and 17s would mean you could keep a decent bit of groud clearance without wheel gap, but meh. 15's will be hard to pull off too bu I think I can do it
Just heard from insurance finally, car is officially written off and they will be paying out. So a bit sad but happy at the same time. They said there's nothing they can do about getting the wreck back to me, so I'm going to have to track it down, try and buy it and then bring it back home.sigpic
