I'll figure out a way to mount the new tweeters in the place of the original ones are and hide the crossovers away somewhere. Will probably also add a bit of dynamat here and there and seal the door pods up or something.
If you want quality speakers id go for the Focal Polyglass range

and you could probably hide the crossovers between the tweeters and A/C vent, thats where i had mine

      • so yesterday I finished my last ever school assessment, and since noone seemed to be up for a tuesday afternoon party I was pretty bored and decided to get rid of the rear wiper that was clearly weighing me down and stealing my horsepower

        • Shave the hatch spoiler too? It's spoilin it. Pretty sure there's a DIY on the forum somewhere come to think of it.

          Looks better dude.

Yea have seen the DIY for the hatch spoiler and it looks pretty straightforward really, but idk, i think I prefer it with the spoiler.. looks a lot less agressive when its taken off. It could use some paint or something atleast, whilst a million coats of forever black got it looking much better then it did (it was like almost white) it just still doesnt look that great

I'm not a fan of just having plugs plugging holes so really want to get the wiper and badge recess shaved properly, but scared to think what a shop would charge to do it, and fear the windsor blue not matching up perfectly (in the sun the paint is amazing :O)

            • Because your is ean early model the VR6 the rear stop light is in the boot spoiler.

So leave it there to be on the safe side.

              • Yea, and after looking through a few pics of de-spoilered mk3's I definately prefer it with it there.

I've already hit the light with a light coat of nightshades and I reckon it looks good, blends in with the spoiler, but still lights up fine, so it shall stay.

                • What sort of plug did you use? Just a grommet?

                  • i just found a random stop thing from off a chair or something I believe that was very snug, pulled out the nail that was in it, got out the soldering iron and filled the hole from the nail, sanded it back and squashed it in there. The I siliconed it up from the inside and masked everything up and hit it with some satin black paint. Doesn't look too bad, but still not a fan of a random black plug on the hatch haha.

the only closer up photo i got, quite blurry but whatever

                    • Havent updated this in a while, but been busy graduating/schoolies ect

Wound the car right down for the formal, tyres were rubbing like a whore, ride was beyond bouncy and basically everything from the front to the back underneath took a few hard scrapes, was a lot of fun.

anyway, car with coils wound right down (could still take out helper springs and go lower but meh)

and one in the grass cause I love the false lows

I was quite enjoying driving it like this actually, but when my father found out there was <50mm clearance in a few places arguments broke out and well... its now sitting at 4WD height (borderline legal)

The wheel gap at the front is killing me, but I must admit it feels like your riding on a cloud now.

                      • Wind the back up a tad and it will look fine.

                        • will probably do just that. or drop the front a little again

have some paint for the brakes so should get around to doing that some time, just have no idea how to get the thing jacked up and put on stands with the tools i have :/ Went to buy a trolley jack today but just ended up wasting a lot of time basically, the cheapest sort of low profile jack I could find was well over $400, theres no way a normal one will fit, unless i drive up on blocks of wood, but even then I couldnt find a decently priced one to suit what I want.

Might have to do it one caliper at a time with the widow maker and bricks :S

                          • Make yourself some slamps (Slam ramps) I used some offcuts from the local building site and a standard jack fits under there.

                            • The way your VR sits now reminds me of how mine sits at the moment, always tell myself its time 2 drop the front a bit more but i never seem 2 get around 2 do it ! I think im going 2 wait until i get some new rims first.

Have you thought about putting a euro lip on it 2 give it a false low at the front ?

I wish i could say mine feels like riding on a cloud at that height... my whole interior shakes and rattles now haha

                              • well im sure if someone got out of there standard car and got into mine theyd think it would be a bit rough, but compared to how it was with the coilovers right down, it doesnt even feel like im driving now haha.

And yea, definately want a euro lip for the front, will probably get an oem one from ecs when i order a few parts, hopefully relativley soon, cuase the coolant and oil leaks are starting to annoy me a little. Even though the oem lip is expensive it should be invinsable, so should pay itself off pretty quickly.

I'n like 5 months of having the car sitting well under the legal height I never had any trouble with the police, one benefit of driving a VW i suppose, but yea I guess keeping it legal is a good idea, even though it doesnt look quite as cool now Some bigger wheels to fill the guards a bit better should make it look better too.
