Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          I had fan problems too
I replaced the yellow sensor (along with a few others)
I got a genuine on from my local vw dealer for under $40
          now it's all good

There is 4 different temp sensors in the VR6, most of which I toyed with at one time or another. I had issues with the thermo fans being on 100% all the time when running and for a long while after run (even if the car was only on for 30 seconds). In the end it turned out to be something to do with the preasure sensor in the AC which was replaced (along with most of the rest of the system), haven't had issues since then.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
