i decided to replace it last night (coolant temp senser)along with a new o2 senser, after driving it for a bit it felt good but as soon as i got home the fan stayed on, first i waited and then i waited some more but it just wont turn off unless i unplug the senser
any ideas?
Is the one you put in the same colour as the old one??

I had fan problems too
I replaced the yellow sensor (along with a few others)
I got a genuine on from my local vw dealer for under $40
now it's all good
There is 4 different temp sensors in the VR6, most of which I toyed with at one time or another. I had issues with the thermo fans being on 100% all the time when running and for a long while after run (even if the car was only on for 30 seconds). In the end it turned out to be something to do with the preasure sensor in the AC which was replaced (along with most of the rest of the system), haven't had issues since then.
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
