I thought you were still in Thailand?

My mum recently scrapped her Volvo wagon. 80's vintage, 264 model with 400,000 +ks. It was costing her more for parts than the car was worth.

I just bought a 98 Passat for my wife - great car and my wife loves it.

V70 are a great car. Make sure you keep the auto serviced.

Bought over the Internet with some help from my awesome sister and step father
Us car lovers do crazy things hey.
The price was too good to refuse.

Later down the track I would still like to get a Passat.
1.8T gets some great write ups.

That's why this one is was so cheap. Everything else fantastic, but 2-3 rd gear slippage very common on these models.
Have an easy solution but expensive- ( new transmission), or temporary solution and cheap solution ( replace tranny fluids, software update and new servo cover).

From what I have read, as long as the damage isn't too extensive, the cheap solution may work.

Gave the golf a great today along some nice windy road.
            She ran stunningly!

Had a Driver in a mk5 TDi golf overtake me up a fairly steep hill, but I was on his tail the whole way.

Just goes to show the ol 8V 1.8L still has some poke!

How stiff is your suspension? When I push against the roof of mine from the side I can only just move the car it's so stiff but with almost no body roll I can go very hard through corners. It's so easy to throw the car around knowing it won't slide. Had no problem cutting up the inside of a MK5 GTI yesterday through a roundabout. We both went in quick, him on the left and I passed him on the inside lane, came out 1st but he had lots more power and passed me 200 metres later (but he still had to work hard to do it).

HK coilovers may be a bit stiff for normal road use but they are magic through corners.

I love roundabouts! However it's always better with only me in the car, my wife hates it when I hook around a roundabout or curve too quickly!!
One of the joys of owning a mk2 is the on rails cornering!
Paul, I'm sure my car has plenty of roll at the moment with standard shocks and springs (that I know of anyway). I'd hate to think what would happen if I push on the roof
I bought a set of lowering springs off VVW member Jarred, so will be installing them along with some new bushings and top mounts eventually.
That should help a bit to tighten it all up until I can get a set of decent coilovers later down the track.

Before that however I need to fix the 5th gear issue with my shifter bushings and sort out a leaking exhaust system which has decided to start farting just before the cat box.
Looks like a trip to the local muffler shop to have the join re-welded.

Took her today to get the exhaust system looked at.
The second muffler/silencer has had it, so back again on Wednesday to get it all fixed.
Also gave her a good wash and started to cut and polish to revive the paintwork after over a year sitting in a carport.
Then we had a heavy storm hit!
Here's a photo I took after the storm had passed.

Looks good in black. Seriously needs some better wheels though.

                      Cheers

Cheers Paul, she is getting some love again.
Yep, the TSW's looked ok when I bought the car however many years ago, but they look pretty dated now.
                        I'd much rather a set of BSB's

Are they as good as BBS's?

Exhaust fixed, nice to have a sweet exhaust note back again.

Also today received in the mail my new Heater matrix and wiper/indicator switch gear- purchased from VVW member Lucky13, thanks mate!

Started this afternoon to install the switch gear ,removed the steering wheel and old switches and then ran out of light.
                              So tomorrow morning will reassemble.
