    Thanks for the backup Stu!

Exhaust is bodgy'd back in the car for the moment. I'm waiting for a Mk3 exhaust manifold and downpipe to get up here from Loon, then I'm gonna have the crappy extractors chopped up into little pieces and replaced with a manifold that actually works

Talked to Pete Shelley from CVWC who did the 3A conversion on the little beast. Nice bloke, and was very helpful. It was refreshing to 'meet' the person who put the car together, and remembered those extractors...

Small bumpers..... big bumpers on a mk2 look like those tacked on porrera kits on old Beetles. hahaha.... nah, seriously, each to their own. all early mk2s had smalls...so big bumpers was an afterthought.... an attempt to make an old classic look new...I prefer the smalls ...87 is old school after all... but like they say...if we all wanted the same thing the world would be a weird place....
long live the small bumpers!!! hehe

I've always been a big bumper fan, makes them look more grown up, if you want retro go get a mk1 Each to their own though and at the end of the day, build something you like and are happy with, bollocks to everyone else.

            I just dont get it.....

Smalls are ment to be on Mk1s, the look good on mk1's but on mk2s it looks like a deformed mk1.

I dont see the atractiveness of it at all.

            Each to there own.

                Update:

Well, in the end I decided against the Mk3 manifold, and so the car is currently in the exhaust shop getting a full trick set of custom extractors made up. I opted for an aggressive street tune, not a race tune, because I want to improve on that lovely down-low torque...

By the time the old ones are cut out of the car (long story...) a new plate cut, port-matched and the new set bent up, I probably won't see the car this week...

                Hopefully next Tuesday, or thereabouts...

Here's the latest pic of the car:

                Cheers!

Glad to hear your getting the exhaust woes all sorted out. They should give you a nice little gain over the old one especialy in its current state.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your old girl

Update: Exhaust is done, the extractors are fantastic and it sounds and goes great! Mind you, with the exhaust leaks gone, i can hear every creak and rattle... So I put a 10" sub in the boot to compensate

Hopefully I'll get the strut brace in in the next couple of days...

I'll have some pics for you this arvo, I've got the day off, so I'm doing a little bit of colour-coding in the engine bay. Also at the same time I'll take some pics of the boot. I've stripped it, and polished up the towers, ready to make a fake floor that I can bolt my sub down to, as I'm getting thoroughly sick of the green occy-strapped effect.

Polished strut brace still sitting in my shed waiting to be fitted when I have the time. And the brand new battery is back out of the car getting charged. I have to take the car over later today and get the alternator tested, as the battery mysteriously discharged itself, yet I had the battery load-tested and it's as good as brand-new!?!?!?!?

All this while working my Ringo Starr off at work... Thank God for days off!!!
