    impressed

    hey john ,
well what can i say . looks fantastic. something i could never get her looking like. the colour and bumpers look great. only 2 things i'd do to finished it and i know you will do it, being a man of good taste - have to be with a mk2 .
is wheels, slightly lowered or just 16" . and the speaker housing in the doors.

have you still got the central locking working?
keep sending me pics, am lovin it.
still no golf over here for me, but plenty of nice ones that i cant make my mind up over.

          LOL... So many questions!

The speaker housings have been "modified" with the help of some fiberglass, a lot of sanding and some black marine vinyl...

I replaced the central locking with a 3-point immobiliser and alarm, to replace the dodgy (sorry) remotes and C/L system...

The rear brakes were those Mk3 GL brakes. The only drama with the fitment was the placement of the bleed nipple. The calipers must be removed from the car in order for the brakes to be bled. I replaced the master cylinder, flushed and replaced the brake fluid with some higher spec stuff at the same time...

The dual-headlights will stay for the moment. The extra light from the driving lights is very welcome where I live, especially with me starting work before sunrise. I am also a big fan of the individualism, as everyone seems to be going single-debadged these days...

The car has been driven! Not much, as I pulled it off the road 3 days after I got it back to fix an exhaust leak, and found a broken stud. Dramas pulling the extractors off mean the car is STILL up on ramps going nowhere. Apparently I am going to have to tilt the engine forward to remove the extractors...

And that leads to my response to Carpoid... Sorry mate, she won't be off the ramps in time, so no guest appearances in Byron before you take off

Once she's off the ramps, clay-barred, polished, waxed and ready to go, I'll whip up some hot pics for you all. Stay tuned for those

          Cheers!!!

            1. Its a GTI thing, so it should have twins.
            2. You can see better at night.
            3. Single headlight Mk2s look like povo pack CL models.

I think you should go for what ever Grille YOU like. I like the 2 light debadged, and yea, it seems to be the way people are going at the moment. But atleast there is not many people in australia with mk2 2 doors. Yours is looking super clean! keep up the good work.

Man, those are some fightin' words

It all depends on the look you're going for. I'm after a slightly less "Mainstream", more retro and unique ol' skool look!!!

It's all about personal choice. Australia never got small bumpers, and that makes them special here IMO

Fair enough, never realy saw a mk2 as "ol' school".
If i wanted old school i would choose the classic looks of the mk1, look good with smalls and even better with chrome. For me, personaly, mk2 with big bumpers, bbs rs' and big glass front doors is the way they are suposta be. Smalls just looks like its trying to be a mk1
As you said its all about personal choice.

Either way it looks great, just better one way then the other IMO. Good to see 2doors in aus and one that is being treated properly.

Seems like it was worth the wait
The "Old School" pic you have made up is really ace, but I can hear those tyres rubbin from here

We should get together soon as I am driving past your place a lot ATM
