    update

so the previous fella who fitted the exhaust did a $h1t @ss job of the thing and it finally kicked it in today. Needless to say, the muffler is in the boot waiting for the mid semester uni break in which i will hopefully remove the drinking straw of the original exhaust manifold and do a complete system. Help the thing breath a little better.

So what are people's toughts on the exhaust diamater?

Also could someone who knows a little more about the mk3 manifold upgrade, please share, will only the 1.8l work?

          Hamza.

I put the the dual exhaust manifold/downpipe on my Aussie MK2. I just bolted it on.

As it bolts to the head, it doesn't matter what bottom end you have but I'm pretty sure it won't fit a 16V head.

It's the best thing I did for that motor.

Is the exhaust manifold taken straight of a MK3 2L ?

              AKAIK, yes.

It was a stock item on the Euro 8v MK2's but ours were from Japan, so had ****ty emissions restrictions...

                Thanks for the help guys.

So my options are either a mk3 (2L?) exhaust mani or a set of mk2 Oettinger extractors. Now the extractors are in decent nick being used and will need a coat of paint. They were off a LHD golf so i have been told they should still clear but will be close.

Now the extractors come with a oxygen sensor mount already fitted where as the mk3 mani dose not.

Would someone else have a set of extractors on the forum?

Have you tried the VW breakers at Lonsdale?
Hes not cheap but might come up with the goods you require.

                  Or even try...

you mean Volkstorque in Lansdale? Been there a number of times, too true when you say he is not cheap. I regularly check ebay.co.uk for parts but something like extractors would hurt on shipping.

Thanks but i saw that photo already, docent really help. I need to know what the belt that ties the alt is also connected to. A engine side profile would be awesome.

The alternator belt is driver by the dual groove pulley coming off the A/C compressor, that's it.
The A/C compressor and water-pump is driven off the crank pulley.

Great to see another custodian keeping things stock! Not many on the roads now that haven't been modded in some way.. I guess no one would want to keep an old tape player, but out of curiosity is that the original? Worth holding on to, in case yours needs to go in a museum in 50 years!
