mine with 15x6" RA's and H&R cup kit -30mm, they are stiffer and i got them dampening adjustable. of course coil-overs you have height adjustment, but can be more expensive for good ones.. depends what path you want to take.

She arrived this morning!!! Got a call from toll to say it's at the depot, I was on my way before I had a chance to hang up the phone. Got my self a day pass, picked her up and off to inspection we went. Pased no problems, inspector only mentioned the pass door handle isn't working.

So what do I think of it??
It is a little sluggish, gutless so to speak. The clutch is a shocker thou and that might be the reason it's not pushing hard.

Soo bloody exhausted, having uni erly in the morning and staying up late is not helping in any way. I'll upload more pics after I giver her a wash and get some rest.

So the weather has been ****ty for the last two days, and it isnt looking to get better any time soon. the photos will have to wait.

One of the things that pulled me toward the mk2 golf was this key

My dads mk2 had the same key and i want one. I found them very cheap on egay but need to know what profile my key is, how can i check? there is a av and a hv profile.

Also the old owner has mentioned that the owner before him fitted a heavy duty clutch, can any one point me towards this owner? he was on the forums and after searching i cant seem to find the photo of my car i saw at a qld meet.

Don't see why an Aussie MK2 would need a heavy duty clutch.

Yea that the one mate, thanks.

So after driving it for about a week, its not bad as a daily, the ac and power steering help too. One thing that is bugging me is the fuel consumption, it averages around 20.3 L/100 according to the gauge, and on high rpms it reaches 60 l/100. Is that even possible?

So what could i do to help it use less?

How heavy is the clutch? The std clutch in my GTD won't take the torque of the Tdi... I'm looking for a 'heavy clutch'. Have sent u an email re Teardrop wheels (show and shine ADL).

ow man i wish you saw this thread before today or i mentioned it...

The previous owner claims the guy before him replaced the clutch with a heavy duty, but i highly doubt it.

The clutch can barely keep up with a good run thru the hills, and whenever i drop the clutch it dose not grip 100%. Maybe 40-60% and the rest slips.

I also had a look at the wrecker you mentioned, its a good hour drive away. It will have to wait for a good day trip.

Hey mate the car looks sick! I just got a white mk2 4door from Sydney (probably the one you were going to get) auto though. That fuel consumption sounds a little hectic. Mine sits at around 8l/100kms. Hopefully the gauge is out of wack. Good luck with it man! Keep us up to date with what you do to it!

bahahaha!!!!! the gauges are notorious for being inaccurate, never heard of one like that though... thats super car territory!!

mine says its doing 19mpg but i know it does 25mpg +... next time you fill up, check the odometer and how much fuel you put in and work it out.

Yea, the gauge is a bit redicolus. So is it a sensor or something else that is easily replaceable?

                          thats a sweet mk2..

I "borrowed" my brothers mags off his ibiza so i can actually have some fun and go for a decent drive through the adelaide hills. The tyres are 205/45r16 and although they clear the struts theyrub on thhe body in the back and on the arches. I think i need stiffer springs! I have been looking for coilovers and the cheapest place seems ebay.uk. Has any body shipped parts from the uk and who did you use? i am also after getting a set of rims and once again, the prices here cant even compete with uk.

lol, that's why going on eBay UK/UK forums always infuriates me.
