Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • I went over to a mates place to play with his new wheel whores off set buddy tool. Such a rad little piece of kit!

16x9 D90s on his Gti Lupo at et 32.

16x8 D90s on the Jetta, et32. Need a lot more poke but we didn't have any spaces to play with. The offset buddy is only 20mm.

16x9 D90s on the Jetta, a bit more poke and this could be pretty awesome to have 9j all round!!

Now for the money shot!! Brand new Enkei Selbach wheels 17x9

Always thought no to 17's on a Mk2 but these sit so well on it! Absolutely love them!! (please excuse the broke arch and grubby car!)
      whatcha think?

        • Yeah with the right sized tyre it could work really well.

He got it from their site I believe. Its pretty cool, allows you to view your new wheel bolted up to your car, then measure and calculate your offset

I'm tempted to move to NZ just for the cars you have over there!

                        • Thanks for all the comments! I'm pretty happy that it is all starting to come together. Still lots of bits to tidy up and a long way to go though! Junior Architect isn't paying the best so I can only chip away at little bits. Would love a full panel and respray but that will be a while off yet.

I want to give the front guards and bumpers a tidy up and might look at deleting of the side indicators?

Also picked up some black trim bits to get rid of the nasty cream bits. Unsure if I will use the black carpet or original grey.

Couldn't find original black c pillers anyway, heaps for Golfs but not for Jettas. Managed to tracked down a set in Florida! Hopefully they arrive soon and then I'll try recovering the headlining.

If anyone has some nice black speaker covers for the door pod let me know please!

                            • Finished building the wheels with help from my mates this week and put tyres on yesterday. Balanced up sweet with no leaks!

Just need to wait on a bigger spacers before they go on my Mk2 Jetta. Oh and the cheap plastic valves are coming off for some new BBS ones.
