Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

You know you drive a MK2 when your 20 year old Golf is half the size/weight of a brand new GTI, yet still has a similar sized engine (minus a turbo and some valves)
Honestly, look at the above photo's, those new GTI's are soooo FAT!!!MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here*

Haha i find the things in this thread so funny because driving my MK 2 is like a little piece of luxury compared to driving my pre 65 severely slammed Volkswagens. I do find that GTI's are attracted to me in carparks, always brings a smile to my face.
You know you drive a MK2 when you can't find for the life of you where that bloody rattle is coming from in the hatch area
You know you drive a MK2 when your power steering cuts out on rainy days
You know you drive a MK2 when your battery light comes on when it's wet
You know you drive a MK2 when your right front indicator keeps cutting out all the time despite nothing appearing to be wrong!!!
PS: if anyone can diagnose those problems, let me know! LOL1963 Single Cab Ute: "El Concreto"

Hey Miss Vdub.
Yeah you can fix the power steering failing in the wet.
There is a cover that goes underneath the belts that stops water splashing up and making them slip.
Otherwise cut up an ice cream container and it will do just as well

You know you own a mk2 when you spend more time looking at the oil pressure/temperature, then you do the speedo.
You know you own a mk2 when you freak out when you see or smell smoke. Bus passes by, pull over to check it wasn't coming from the engine.
(fyi I dont own a mk2, but I assume it's similar to a 205)
