This is probably the best 'daily' Mk2. Everybody chase for 2 doors 16V, 4 doors 8V can be outstanding, of course mine is not LOL.
What do you do with your Mk2 AC compressor now ?

Edit : Ooops, just realised your location has been changed, you moved to Wagga Wagga ???
The SD508 is probably in Sydney (Camden lol) the new compressor (MK3 SD7V16) is all plumbed in.
It would be working, but the high/low pressure electrical switch has dumped the A/C charge....again.

Yeah I live in Wagga now (military).

    • Ryans Mk2 is a factory 2L from South Africa. 2E engine.
It is excellent, reliable as a daily and fast enough as a hot hatch.

How is the seat repair treating you Ryan?

was the drive back to wagga fun?

Hey Ryan, regarding the mk3 sd7v16 swap, what else was needed from the mk3 other than the compressor?

Seat's awesome, I can drive long distance now without destroying my back.
The trip back was great, love the PS the most, give's the car a really quick 'turn in' feel to it.

It's not the easiest job, CamdenGTI had a few things modified to work for me.
This page explains it, VWVortex.com - MK2 ABA Serpentine Conversion Including A/C and P/S.

          AFAI, you'll need
-Complete MK3 (GL) belt setup (AC comp, Alt, brackets, PS pump, pulleys)
          -Corrado radiator (correct hoses)
-You could use a raddo G60 compressor to keep the same hose fittings
-Or have the A/C hoses modified to accept the SD7V16 out lets
          -Time/patience

          • Will look good with wheels and some lows. You have coilovers?

Thanks for sharing how you did it.
My situation is slightly different, I have the SD7V16 compressor but figuring how to connect with existing mk2 hoses. I don't mind using the old v belt setup just want to swap out the old sd508. I assume the mk3 hoses will not fit on mk2, looks like I need to get someone to modify the fitting

                • Good choice for the wheels, have been considering a set of those myself. Looking forward to see pictures of them fitted.

                    • Quick update, think I finally sorted out fitment.
Ended up going with Zetum 195/50's (if you want to run low, go with 45's.... or 7 inch rims lol)

Some pics as it sits currently,

Front's are running 1.75degrees camber and almost never scrub
Rear's may need raising, for that cheeky Jack-russell look...

And one from DOVW, (note the out of date rego sticker..... police don't like that)

                          • So tackled somthing I'd be putting off for a LONG time.

Found rust in the upper right corner of the 'inner' arch.

                            First impressions...

Cheers to the person that filled it full of bog and ignored it

                            Started wire wheeling back,

                            First cut/section...

2 of the 3 patches welded in,

                            Positioning of the 3rd

Had a work colleague do the welding for me, he's currently working on a cool Datsun 1200 ute resto.
Will take some more pics of what I'm up to now next chance.
