Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Put it back now still haven't connect the oil pressure sensor and wire though.
I'm a bit disappointed with the temp gauge illumination, also has similiar issue that Ryan had, voltmeter only shows 12.x volt. Probably need to pull it out again and run a wire directly from battery to accurately monitor alternator output.

Supporting the A/C compressor is the most annoying part.
Or did you get rid of it? It's not a bad job either way.

Air cond is still there, I haven't decided to delete it yet.

I think I made a wrong decision to get the lowest temperature thermostat (72 degree), now water temp sitting at 50 degree mark in curising, oil temp hardly get up to 70 degree, I think they are not good for fuel consumption. What thermostat do other people using here ?

I have another issue, the lower cambelt cover is worn out badly, it kind of touch something (could be the cambelt) that cause some scaring noise. Now I need to get a new cover, need to undo all belts and refit again

Would using a fan thermo switch of a higher rating get temps up a little higher?
