Yes ill be painting the manifold in 800 degree VHT exhaust paint and thermo wrapping it to keep the heat in and prevent as much heat sink into the inlet manifold as possible. I looked into getting it ceramic coated which is excellent for keeping the heat in but very expensive. I got quoted over $900 for the manifold, downpipe and turbine housing....

I dummy fitted the manifold and turbo to make up the downpipe, the wastegate is 1 1/2" diameter stainless tubing and the turbine is 2" expanding to 3" around 90 degrees. The splitter in between the pipes is a section of stainless machined up and sectioned to suit though in the pic it isn't finished to seal properly. The wastegate will exit just behind the subframe away from anything that could get damaged from the heat!

is there going to be any issues with heat generated by the turbo around the adjacent wiring?
Thanks jayjay, the more ridiculous the modifications the better within reason.... I have never seen any golfs with the turbo setup like the way im doing it above the gearbox.
The wiring loom is actually quite long and looped back over itself so once everything is in position ill cable tie it up out of the way.

I stand corrected... and very impressed! I searched for more info on bug_racers setup but nothing on here. So a VR6 turbo, 6 into 1 manifold, garrett GT t51r spl, water to air intercooler... Bug_racer should start a build thread and share what it takes to build a 1000+hp monster...

You may not need to look at pics to see it eventually..
I have finished the 3" downpipe, screamer pipe and the manifold. Here is a pic of the collector of the manifold after porting but unpolished. Note the spike in the middle as the pipes merge.

yea but finished can always mean a couple different things. It could be. it's all pretty much done bar some things and i'll put it on next week or it could be it's finished and ready to be bolted on tomorrow.
