Should I import my GTI when I leave the UK?

Car is being cleared through customs as we speak. What do I do about driving it from the customs house to home? (legally)

Legally you can get a permit for the trip just like taking it to the compliance place for $20 although I just drove mine back from the shippers without one.

How much did it set you back for customs/GST/Shipping?

Shipping was a pain, ended up close to $6000AUD to get it here. (It's being AQIS cleaned for $538 and the parts inside it for 25 so it can only go up from there.

Something is working in my favour, though when i had a quick squiz at it whilst collecting my personal effects, they've managed to pull the drivers flare off and scrape it along something and there are more scratches than before (took pics before, and apparently the shippers have aswell) just trying to work out what to do regarding this as the shipping company have had a break down in communications regarding my docs!

I drive down Hume Highway from Bass Hill to Enmore, and then a few times on to Pyrmont a couple of times a week, and yet I have not seen a single mk2. My dad came back from bass hill plaza and told me there was a white mk2 gti, so i jumped in my car and raced up there before work and looked everywhere but missed it.

Nice one ! I might be going back to South Africa for a while and there is a very nice RS2 for sale so if I go back I'll stay for a year and drive that and send it back !!
