Velly Mate, when I first arrived in OZ, I purchased a 2007 lancer, drove it for a year, hated it, so so boring.
Cut a long story short, sold it, brought the cab and I am in driving heaven.
There is no love where a lancer is concerned..1993 MK1 CAB ! Work in Progress........

Here is another reason why you should bring your car over.
http://cars2.ebay.com.au/1986-Volksw...mZ270382160277
That car would be worth less that 100 pounds back in England.
It also depends where you are gonna live. I live in QLD and there are very few cars to be found up here. There have been 2 Gti's for sale in the two and a half years i've lived here, both were 5 doors. It's not such a problem in the southern states.
If you can, bring it over.

Just make sure you get import approval from Australian Dept of Transport BEFORE you ship it out. You shouldn't have any trouble qualifying if the car is pre 1989 or you've owned it for 12 months in UK AND lived there for the whole 12 months. Also be careful about packing your stuff in the car as if you don't get import approval customs can't open the car and therefore can't let you get your gear out. There's a few things you need to know but just contact Dept of Transport and Customs and they should be able to tell you all you need to know.2008 VRS Wagon. Yellow, very yellow!

I brought mine over a few years ago and am glad I did ('88 Small bumper GTI - 2 door). I didn't care about the cost but I am sure I wouldn't loose out if I decided to sell it. I didn't bother with a container, it was cheaper to send it roll on roll off. It was on a ship full of brand new Peugeots and Land Rovers and was spotless when it arrived here. You would probably be better off sending the car this way and all of your other stuff seperately. As pullstarter said get the import approval first and you shouldn't have too many dramas. YOu can get all the information from the DOTARS web site.

Yes you should definitely bring it with you, although looks like you had already decided that! Looks fantastic and there are not many around by all accounts.

Just do it
Could you really have sold it to a Chav??
Chavs are outta their depth if they're not in a Corsa / Punto / Saxo (delete as applicable)

16v kid posted this on the Mk1 section :
I found a shipping company charging 780pounds for shipping from UK to AUS.
ans they pick the car up from the owners house.
Could be worth PMing him for more details if you're going ahead with it.
Hope it helps
