Small problem maybe, was driving around tonight for a few hours and the alternator/battery light started coming on intermittently. Not sure if its a loose connection being knocked around on the bumpy roads or not. Would come and go every now and then over about an hour. Ideas?

edit: Had a look under the bonnet today, one of the belts around what I thought was the alternator had tiny cracks between each of the teeth. Would this make it slip or give off a warning note? I'll go for a drive later and see if it still happens.

Alternator belt doesn't have teeth I don't think, but if it's slipping at all the light will come on. Mine used to do it in the wet all the time.

edit: And what are my options for front speakers? Links to where I can buy door speaker shrouds? If I can't have front speakers then I was just thinking of upgrading the rear 6x9s...

Front door speaker pods are only available from O/S as far as I know, and they're quite pricey from memory. I gave up on that idea. Just upgrade your rear shelf speakers and if you're wanting more, put a small sub in the boot and some decent 3-4" speakers in the dash in place of the old crappy standard ones. Personally I'm pretty much happy with decent 6x9s in the parcel shelf.

Im running Kicker 6x9's in the back, standard ones in the front and a sub in the back. System is well capable of making the whole car shake I would leave the fronts, they are pretty good and will do a good job. My advice would be to get some decent 6x9's and maybe add a sub... Awesome car btw man, same colour as mine, running 17's on mine too, they make the car look so high tho.

The fronts do need replacing or disconnecting as they are damaged and crackle a fair bit. Sounds pretty good just through the 6x9's and the new head unit made a considerable improvement aswell.

We were at jb and guy said would be $95 for putting splits in the front regardless of how long it takes, is it easy to replace the front one? had a quick look and seemed real awkward.

regarding the alternator, it was wet both times we noticed the light coming on, comes on then goes pretty quickly, stays off the majority of the time though.

Oliver came over again today and helped out by re-doing the rear speaker wiring so that it was hidden away and sat flush with the underside of the parcel shelf. We went to Supercheap and got some new fuses and also a bulb for the boot light which oliver also set up again. The rear top brake light is now set up again (previously had fallen off).

So it's good to see all the little things being fixed up, this week I'll be getting the quote for the front right fix.

While at supercheap I picked up some Forever Black and reblackened the dumpers and side skirts and the rest, all turned out really nicely.

I'm going to make a list of all the little things that need doing, then work on them over time.

Rained all of today, so no wash. Instead, fitted some ropes up so that it lifted the rear parcel shelf when the hatch opens. The gas struts are on their last legs I think, they need a good helping hand to get to the top.

Here's a pic showing the redone cabling of the speakers in the boot, and the second pic shows the rear shelf ropes.





Also degreased the engine bay today.

Got a new front right wheel today, so now both fronts are new, and that install came with a wheel allignment, so it drives straight now and there's no tug to the left

Small oil droplets still coming down maybe one a day under the engine, maybe it's from the oil stick tube being cracked at the top, when I drive over bumps it might be spilling. I'll investigate.

Now not sure where to go from here, what to buy, etc. Haven't got rudd's 900 yet, but that'll probably go towards the coilovers..

German Auto Parts. They've got a lot of the little things that may have broken or whatnot and can't be had locally.

Got some VW cap stickers off ebay, $12 to my door, they look alright.



And to kill off the 4x4, I ordered some coilovers today! Not sure how long they'll take to get here, but I look forward to having a go at getting them on.

Also get under there witha scrubber to help it.

I'd go with Black looks classy and good.
