    hi
i have done the cable shifter there is not much work involved all you need to do is remove the mk2 one then get a mk3 or a corrado shifter, then take the shifter you will need to line it up from underneath and drill new holes then it is just the case of bolting it up.
    the parts you will require
    corrado or passat pedal box
    subframe from vr6
cross member from passat or corrado
    corrado vr6 radiator
anything else you need to know just ask

forgive my ignorance, but i thought you just used all the mk3 vr6 gear?

and what does the cable shift conversion do exactly?

you have to use the vr6 box which is cable shift. so you have to swap your shifter for a cable shift so you can use the gbox. you just use all the vr6 gear, its pretty easy.

          hi
if you go for the mk3 running gear you can use every thing apart from the pedal box, front crossmember, rad. if you let me know the route you are going to take i can tell you more.

ok basically the way things have gone down i have a 1991 gti auto, the ex gf fried it pretty badly a while back, and i have been waiting for it to **** itself.

i reckon the time is getting pretty close, and i want to put in the VR6 running gear. my radiator is pretty rooted so i was hoping i could use all the vr6 stuff.. pretty much from radiator back to the shifter.

ofcourse i still need to source the donor vr6, i just want to know what im in for so touch wood, it can be a smooth conversion

              hi
it is good you have a 90 spec the wiring is so much easier.
1] if your donor car is a golf you can use every thing apart from the pedal box and rad.
2] if your donor car is a corrado you can use every thing.
3] if your donor car is a passat you can use every thing apart from the cable shift you can use it but it is a bit to long.
to do the conversion it is not hard if you are good with mechanics it is straight forword.

if the donor car is a passat will it still be plug and play with the mk2 loom?

also will a manual tranny from a 2 litre mk3 GL bolt up to a vr6? or anyone have a manual gbox to suit a vr6? found a wrecked passat (auto) nearby!

4cyl and 6 cyl gearboxes are different. you will need to use an 02a gearbox which came in hydraulic (vr6) or cable change (cupra).

You need a VR6 manual gearbox, cupra box is not the same.

yes it will be plug and play the vr6 wiring loom there will be 3 white connecter that go into your mk2 fuse box f,G1,G2 then there is a seperate red/yellow wire with a red plug that goes to one of the permenant live on your fuse box. use the vr6 gearbox if you can get a corrado vr6 box as the gears are better ,
