Not really, most are 4 doors. Most of the 2 doors are gone now.

And you cant easily put a VR6 into a MK1.

This thread is to answer questions about how to do a Mk2 VR6 conversion, not discuss wheather or not you should.

The Aussie Mk2s are underwhelming in my opinion, so lets have some fast ones to redress the balance.

can you use the standard vr6 manifold and downpipe in the mk2 or do you need a custom downpipe?

will the engine loom actually just plug straight into the mk2 fusebox?

what sort of intake pipe/airbox would you use? stock vr6 or stock mk2 or cone filter?

Ive seen a mk2 vr6 down pipe being sold by a few US sites. Specialy made for mk2s with a vr6. I would still like to know for sure though.

Stock vr6 air box seems to be the go as far as ive seen or a pod.

I just went for a spin in a Mk2 VR6 and it was pretty good, lot of bark for a little car.

Props to Brenton for building it and JayJay for the homey save.

Yes the Fusebox is plug and play, but get all the links right or stuff wont work.

VR6 and Mk2 both have 2 looms, one for the engine and one for everything else. All other Mk3s have an integral loom for everything.

You can use the standard VR6 exhaust, you are using the Mk3 subframe, so no rubbing there.

Just out of interest, whats the traction like? Can you brake traction in gears higher than 1st and 2nd?

lol its still only a pretty stock vr6 motor , so no it doesnt break traction in 3 on roll on or 2nd. its pretty much just like a mk3 vr6, all in all i dont think you would save much weigh off a mk3 once you put all the mk3 vr6 bits into a mk2. i would guess there would only be 100kg difference if that.

Damn. Maby after a bit of work?

What about a r32 motor in to a mk2? I've been interested in this also but i doubt it would be as easy.

all you need now is a turbocharger now brenton

the 3.2 vr6 would be so much harder. you'd need to run standalone management.

                      how does it handle?

Not really, still the fastest Mk2 in Australia I`d say.

There are turbo mk2's out there that would tear it a new one. Personally all you get from the VR6 is great noise. My 16v would keep up with a mk3 VR easily so probably only a bit slower than brents with better handling.
