Cool, that's about the hardest accelerating stock 5 speed there is.
With that box and the K-Jet 1800 you'll be faster off the line line than Josh and Jarrad.
You should be faster than me too!(Well, quicker than one of my Mk1s)
Your ratios are
3.45 2.12 1.44 1.13 0.89 with a final drive ratio of 3.94
This is the close ratio gear set and the lowest diff ratio easily available.
It's not going to be the most economical though
Assuming 185/65/14 tyres you'll be at 3120 rpm @ 100km hr.
Should be lots of fun at the traffic lights!
Good luck with the RWC, I'll see you some time over the weekend for those scrapers.

I hate to say it but, from my experience's there also the weakest box of gear's I've encountered.
It's a funny thing, but my diesel 4 spd was actually faster in a sprint & could be pushed beyond the top speed of my close ratio 5 spd's too!
But having that 2.12 2nd is pretty nice & you definately notice it, cause that's the main difference.

Code GC
3.45 1.94 1.28 0.91 with a FDR of 3.89
3150 rpm @100kph though
Stu, LSD's aren't cheap! you might want to consider an 80% pelolock kit first.

Those pumps can be an issue. You need to check your wiring, you may have blown a fuse.
Firstly check the fuel pump relay (you did fit one didn't you?) These can be the cause of a lot of grief.
As these pumps age the internal bearings wear out and they can jam up internally. When this happens they stop turning, draw heaps of current and blow the fuse ( or melt the wiring if you don't have a fuse).
To get them going again on the side of the road a couple of light taps with a hammer usually frees them up again and they'll get you home, but that's about it.
A pump in good condition will draw about 5 - 8 amps and it it will pull over 20amps when it stalls so your wiring should be setup for those sorts of currents. I went through a heap of 20Amp fuses until I worked out what was going on with my pump.
So, make sure your wiring's up to it, check there's power at the pump and give it a thump.
If thumping it makes it go, you're up for a new pump I'm afraid.

Pete
the car was runnign and just stalled..so i bypassed the relay to try the pump...the wire just sparks and the pump sounds like its seazedi shall try the tap trick!
i should really get one of the proper k-jet pumps and run an accumulator and a pressure reg..but atm the just have the pump going straight into the fuel filter then into the k-jet...but i never had any problems with it running...and worked well at high rpm.
with the tank sender should i jsut try and get a new one? or a good second handy? ir try and fix the one i have? what is a glue that will not perrish when fuel touches it?

Try swopping the wires over on the pump and running it backwards for a minute. That can unjam them too
Remember kjet is picky with foreign matter and slurry from the bottom of the tank. A full tank of fresh fuel and a good filter would help matters.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

i just swapped the tank over and put good clean fuel in and a new fuel filter!

i was told not to because it may not work properly"The Stu likes this"
