Do you have room to mount the brake booster on the drivers side?

Yeah technically I do. But I'm not in the mood for making a one off bespoke linkage for it haha. Unless there is a simple solution?

So it's coming together nicely at the moment. Headlining and vinyl trims have gone in as well as panels going on and she's starting to look like a car again.

Now I'm faced with the problem of putting all the glass back in and it is a royal PITA! I've been trying with the string technique but so far have been unsuccessful with any of the windows. Can anyone offer any additional advice? Is it worth recruiting a helper for this?

                Ride height is lower FYI

I was told to use tectyl as a lube. Spread some in the rubber groove and on the frame. The bonus is that it helps protect against rust too

I was looking through this thread from page 1 to here and you have given me the big kick in the ass i needed to get cracking on my mk1.

And like to say thanks for the ideas about the barina radiator as im putting a mk2 16v into my mk1 and im feeling totally lost with a bunch of stuff.

Your golf is looking awsome good job

Looks great!! I removed and refitted the rear hatch glass - getting it back in was easy on my own with the string trick plus some soapy water sprayed into the rubber channel. You need to use some force to lift the rubber over the metal lip but once you have about 10cm done it starts getting easier. Use your free hand to push the window in, in the area you are pulling the seal over with string.

i dont know about you guys but mine is finally able to drive further than 25 metres without breaking....

awesome work browneye, any tips on adhering the vinyl to the car? trying to remake pillars but no glue i have is working.
But no really, I like to look distinguished when I step out of the car. People are like, "wonder what he does for living."
I just reply, "your daughter, sir." - some dude on stanceworks

I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

I just used selleys kwik grip and it seams to be working ok. The rubbers are the main thing that are holding everything up anyway
