Are you using adapter brackets to fit the calipers or do they bolt to the same place the old calipers bolted to? Pix please.1978 MK1 2.0 16v http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...-46488-70.html

Only thing you need to get them to work are shoulder bolts to step the thread back down to a m10, but still hold firm in the 12mm holes on the calipers. I'll make sure I take lots of photos and part numbers for those who are interested.77 Mk1 GLS 2 door - That sinking feeling

So here's the recap from the weekend's work. Finished off the wiring loom gents, so here are some photos, even though it couldn't be a more boring topic...
Colour coded connections for further simplicity
Off with the dash for some more wiring upgrades
It's seen better days
But I have a plastic dash in fair condition which will be replacing it
A little bondo and it's ready for the rest of the the next part of the restoration
Add in some new gauges and some oem goodness
Additionally to the work I've done I got some photos of the brakes that are going on for those who are interested
Part numbers
Old bolts and new shoulder bolts for the mk1 hubs
Only issue is the brake pads overhang the inside of the friction surface, meaning it'll be a prick to remove once it starts wearing in
Can't decide what to do next... Get it running and driving, or strip it down again for a paint job? I'm open to suggestions
Much love77 Mk1 GLS 2 door - That sinking feeling

Paint is pretty shagged. Looks like a home job from a can with no prep of clear coat. It's just a super underwhelming job. Good news is the body underneath it all seems decent enough so not much body work needed. I'll definitely keeping it white, not sure about code though77 Mk1 GLS 2 door - That sinking feeling

Thanks for the info. I had a look at the Seat Cupra calipers I've got and they are going to need an adapter to fit the MK1 hub so I'll see which is cheaper/easier to get, adaptor or Opel calipers. Where did you get your calipers from? I've already got the 280 mm disks.
Thanks

I am busy with stripping mine down completely and slowly starting fab work on the engine bay etc to get all that done as much as possible as soon as possible to spray it and then slowly start putting it back together. Love the work you have done so far.
