  • Looking for an old friend

About 4 years ago my mate had a cream coloured mk1 that was great and served well in year 12. It was a fun car.
Mechanically, I know that one of the wheel bearings was replaced.

Anyway, I'm curious what happened to it. Thought I might try and find it here and see how it's going.

Surely the wheel bearing clue will be the give away

He did say only 1 wheel bearing was replaced. That should limit the search because we all know 99% of MK1's have had more than 1 wheel bearing replaced in the last 35 years.

How about a location of origin? Town? State?

                      ...no.

The windscreen was replaced though, so the seals around it should look fairly fresh?

You really don't know MK1's do you.

Every one of them that's been worked on will have new rubbers, including windscreen surround.

Do you know who or where the car went to after your friend had it?

Was it stock standard or did it have any mods?

Registered? If so, what month did it run out?

                        Cheers

                        Paul

Finally tracked down an old photo. The rego was canceled in 2012.
This is it loaded up before schoolies a long time ago.

Why is there a toolbox taking up space where you could fit more beer?

It is a Mk1 in original condition being driven by a bunch of highschool finishers to schoolies. Obviously, the toolbox is there to make repairs, the bottle of radiator coolant is to top up the radiator, while the beer is there to pay the tow truck operator and local mechanic when the problem cannot be fixed with the tools in the toolbox. Only thing that is missing is the bottle of engine oil.
