Finally bit the bullet and stopped wasting coin on my daily...

I sold my wheels after putting my bags in and will daily it stock and start burning my money on my mk1

On the weekend I got busy paint stripping everything that I had not already, front guards needed it ( 5 layers of paint and large big areas )

Started stripping the doors and the rest of my shell aswell as I'm getting it ready for my mate who will be doing a lot of fab work on my car for me!!

(P.s if anyone ever wants fab work pm me and I'll pass his details over)

I thought I'd shed some light on my car, I haven't exactly just started this build I've swapped motors brakes etc before and I'll add this in

I bought my car around 2 years ago, after selling my civic and instantly fell inlove!

Shortly after I encounters a few issues... Mainly with the carb! Whilst me being 17 at the time and only owning a efi car and having a knowledge on engine swaps I started my 2.0 swap and efi conversion into my mk1!

I chose the engine from a mk3 gl with 5 speed which I put in, this engine had a 262 cam, r32 fuel pump, works engineering fuel regulator, sr20 throttle body, microtech ecu etc

This is when I first bought it! Stock as anything other some wheels I had from my honda

This was after the engine swap, suspension done, fuel system etc! The car handled great and was fast enough to blow most street cars away... But me being me it wasn't extreme enough

So this is when I started stripping her down and decided to do a vr6 turbo

Stripping the motor out was easy as is done it multiple time with my younger brother (15) who knows a **** load about 90% of cars now hah

Here are a few photos of my car stripped back to the shell!

Soon after this I started body work, I always loved the fully shaved engine bays and I started cutting my rusty firewall out to put in place a shaved bag with booster and m/c delete, full wire tuck and the rest!

I was cutting the firewall out ( me being stupid ) had no safety guard on the grinder and ended up having the blade hit me in the face

125 stitches later, my face being reconstructed and middle finger and nose being reattached here I was ha

Close call with death.. I think so and from that day on I can not stress grinder safety and any safety when working with power tools

So after I got out of hospital and had zero interest in my car till about June this year I started some body work!

So after I bought some parts of a bloke wrecking a gti ( was full of rust) I took the front guards rear hatch seats dash cluster and more!! But soon enough once again I became busy spending all my money on my daily Car!

As of which have got back into the mk1 full time on the weekend

Here are some photos of the paint stripping

Left and right guards starting to come good! With 10 layers of paint coming off.. Slowly but surely [IMG]http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/20/614832206b77899a41c7031317e8b8a6.jpg[/

Fark, I thought I was accident prone but you're miles in front. Looks like you came close to losing an eye too. When I had my grinder accident it was at crotch level and I came close to losing the family jewels but nothing as serious as your injuries. Hope you're better (and wiser) and the chicks dig the scars.

Great work on the Golf, can't wait to see further progress.

                    Cheers

Yeh I'm aiming to build the fast mk1 in Australia! It may take me a few years for the motor to be perfect though! (Apprentice wages + bills done help my cause)

Got home from work today at 3:30 and got straight into it! All the paint stripper had dried now and had peeled a lot!

Pulled the trusty paint scrapper out and got straight to work

Here are some results from one coat

After removing all the loose stuff I out another coat on and called it a day.. (Wet paint stripper isn't nice to touch)
