    • alright then, so the lights do actually work, i think they failed it because the LHS light is so much dimmer than the right, is this normal? how do i fix it. also, how can i make the reverse lights work. i also need to make the exhaust stop moving from the extractors back, any ideas?

      • Lhs must have a lower watt globe, check your fuses first and then globes if still no reverse check the switch on the gearbox if it is even plugged in if it is plugged in then most likely the switch is shot. And for the exhaust jus cheek if you have all the rubber hangers on Easy fix.

        Good luck

        • Also, may not fix the issue but will help the cause, upgrade all the negative cables to thicker ones. Mk1 originally have very thin ones

          • the exhaust being loose has been fixed aswell as the oil leaks, so thats 2 problems down, 6 more to go. can someone please explain to me where the switch for the reverse lights is on the gearbox, i have no clue about what it looks like, where it is etc.

if i have any time tomorrow im going to go to repco/supercheap and try to find a new bulb for the LHS light, and find a battery clamp and locking fuel cap at the same time.

              • well, that stint of inactivity was somewhat eventful. All of the problems that the golf were failed on in the last bout with the regoman were fixed, hoping to have it go in on tuesday and speeding along canberra roads tuesday night. I also fixed the fan so the problems with temperatures of 110 degrees + no longer happen.

                          • Cars great fun to drive except ive run into a problem. If i drop the revs enough, like when i go to first stopping at lights, the car dies. is this something to do with the fuel pump or timing?
