I appreciate your concern gldgti, but before I started driving around I made sure that the spring could not move enough to contact the wheel or jam in an odd position

There's a wtb for mk2 coils in the classifieds section atm man!

I will look into it cheers man, how would I tell if it is a Mk2 one and not just a shoddy Mk1 one?

Found another whole diesel engine in a mate's farm shed for $50 minus injectors. Been sitting for a fair while, but has rags in all the open holes.

Aaand and then I got defected for being too low I knew it was coming haha. Currently spending my large tax cheque on fixing it here's me and my mate's Corona the day we both got defected (hours apart other sides of the city)

Moved house so the Golf naturally moved with me.

So, many MANY things have happened since the last update.

A friend and I who run Team floG Motorsport picked up a rust bucket







And then I made the heartbreaking decision.

I decided to cut my losses with my beloved Golf. But not entirely...

The original plan was to have this new Golf as a ****s and gigs racecar. The plan now evolved to have my defected Golf as our racecar and to put all of the good bits out of it into the rusty shell as 90% of the rust was surface. Queue the montage

Passenger guard had at one stage had rust cut out and duct tape put over top so that guard had to go and will be replaced shortly



Swapped the grille and a headlight



Found a leaking rear Welch plug



And made a silly exhaust tip



Once the leaks are fixed and the guard is replaced I shall be mobile once more

So, the only thing stopping me from being on the road is some $2 Welch plugs. I bought 35mm plugs hoping they were right but they're 36mm. Dang. To get to them we have to drop the entire engine as there's just not enough room behind the engine. Double dang. I guess this is what you get when you park a car for 7 years without draining any fluids. Also found some loose bolts everywhere, including missing bolts on the driveshafts :/


On the other hand, I acquired a passenger guard from a great friend and fellow Team floG member and got mum to paint it up for me

Before you take the engine out to replace the welch plug flush the cooling system and then put in a can of Bars Leaks. This stuff is great at sealing water leaks. On my old V8 Ford I had a big leak from one of the welch plugs and used 2 cans to fix it. Worked great for the next few years.

The front guard looks really good, makes the rest of the car look like crap. Why don't you let your mum do the rest of the car.
