    Haha, thanks DAVOOOO

So I got them wrapped in Nangkang N2s, 185/45/15s, $99ea fitted and bal. Gecko Tyres in Northgate, good dudes, owner has a rad Evo III and is a pretty cool gui. I got two wheels done just in case there were problems and I'd rather fork out for two other tyres than a full set.

Chucked the hubcentric rings on which I got off eBay, brand new, full set for 30 bones delivered. I've asked before, but is running something made of alloy that will basically be pressed against two different metals be a bad thing? I remember people saying that about spacers...

    Rear

Pretty happy none the less. I am going to drop the front 15mm and give the guards all round some love. Rear is pretty much bang on, maybe take out a locking collar just for a few extra millz.

Thanks guys! I don't think I'll have too many issues flying under the radar here. Although the only time I've ever been defected was in QLD.... my old car didn't have an exhaust, ran around like that for about four months in West. Sydney haha. Aiming for end of March to get it rego and errthang!

                    Mates,

Changing Clunker's front brakes today. Passenger side easy peazy, drivers.... not so much.

This has really stumped me, so I hope someone can be like "mate do it this way" or "grind it down lolz".

The pads are haaaaard up where they are meant to sit, yet the gap is so small and there is no give to get it over the rotor.

Has anyone encountered something like this before? They legit need another 3-4mm to be able to tightly squeeze over. The other side was tight, as it should be, but this is spastic and it's driving me nuts. Plus I am running out of swear word combos.

                    Bad photo but:

                    What can I do?

I know that the pad shoe that goes over the top of it is missing, but looking at the other side, it really shouldn't affect where the pad sits to within that much of a measurement, should it? I might rip the other one off and see if it does anything.

PS how cute is my cat

when i rebuilt mine, i think i recall part of the caliper being able to slide back and forward, but they look slightly different to my brakes. what year is your car??

'78. There are two different types of calipers as this was a change over year. There are the square-padded ones where the pads are no bigger than a matchbox, or the more typical style of brake pad. These are the square ones.

Nothing can slide back and forward from what I can recall (I'm inside having a frosty beverage and nursing my skinned knuckles), but I probably would have gathered it when I was doing it. I know what you are talking about though, as other makes and models have had the same thing.

Wait. Yes they are, but I cannot find a happy medium where the piston is pushed in and the caliper is spaced enough so there is ample room to get the pads over the rotor.

Time to hit it a bit more I guess!
