There's two disc thicknesses in the solid discs and different pads to suit each.

The diesel cars had 12mm thick discs with a wear limit of 10mm
The Petrol cars had a 10mm disc with a wear limit of 8mm

you might have been trying to put diesel pads over petrol discs.

Yeah, I definitely made sure to get the Petrol ones as that's what the DBA/RDA catalogue had made clear. But I got it all and it's all sweet, brakes heaps better now, going to flush the fluid this weekend, hook up new tyres nek week, then rego the week after! Party tiems!

So I registered the lil' bastard yesterday. New brakes are noisy as and I've found this is normal, going to do the 'proper' bed-in procedure soon. I've read mixed reports about when to do the 80-100km down to 30 or so k's; to do it straight away, or do it after a couple hundred kms. What do you guys do? I am trying to dig up the brake pad boxes, but I cannot find them as yet.

Also looooool, broke down on the Story Bridge last night! The throttle cable came off, and I think something is actually missing for it to go onto the butterfly clip. But I got it going after a bit of stuffing around. Was pretty funny/sucked heaps.

Quick snap, pretty happy with how it looks. Going to lower the front about 10mm and hit the guards again. Should sit pretty rad. I'll take more wanker pics later after I wash him!

I did mate. They were just MK3 stockies; from guess, they are 14x5.5 or 14x6in? Be ~+30 I reckon.

Sort of glad to see that oil cooler gone I was standing in the Camden GTI workshop in campbelltown one balmy evening having a chat while this car was being worked on. Started up (having a carb swap IIRC) and pop, off came one of the hoses and spewed oil all over the workshop floor. (This must have been about 3 years ago now).

Anyway, wheels look ace. Nice one.

No real updates. Been driving it on weekends/when I get the chance. Got my first defect in him yesterday, just the usual stuff. Probably going to lower it more and roll the guards more on the weekend. On the hunt for some camber tops and shims as well. If you have any/know of any, hit us up!

It was an eBay store, but I had read it wrong, worked out to be about 95 delivered. Which is still pretty good, but I got these fitted locally cheaper.

                                Hi mates,

Looking at buying some gauges next week because I'm paranoid and like to see what is going on. I haven't been able to find anything about installing aftermarket gauges; does anyone have anything or can swing some advice? I am chasing VDO gauges to still keep it era-correct and stock looking.
