    Hello mates!

Been a long time stalker of this forum, but I now finally have my first VolksVargen. I purchased this little beauty off my mate Mike (Mike1_Golf on here I believe), and he arrived last week. I have not been able to touch him due to the horrible weather, but hope to have him on the road within four weeks. Please let me know of any events and VW clubs that are up around this way . I really only know of ClubVeeDub (do they have a Brisbane arm?) in Sydney when I used to live there.

Anyway, my car history has been predominantly Nissan. I have owned about six R31s with various powerplants in the RB range, an MX83 Cressida with 1JZ, and just sold my S13.

Many of you may know this car from out and about in Sydney, and when it was recently up for sale. I told Mike months and months ago that I would buy it, and I am thankful he held onto it for me!

The Golf is essentially stock, other than upgraded Weber carbie and coilovers all round. The gearbox is also a rebuilt Diesel item.

My only plans really are to fit new wheels which are already in my possession, and have him predominately as a weekender. I hope to keep him for a while (I rarely keep cars longer than 10 months) and fix him up over a long period of time; much like what my friend Ryan/HuH on the forums has done.

So, good to meet you all, and hope to see you about at some shows!

So I am buying tyres in a fortnight, and I am still really undecided as to whether I should paint the wheels white. They would have to be all white I reckon, as white centre with the polished lip looks weird IMO. What's erry1 reckon? I think they'll look heaps sick as is, but white may make the whole car 'pop' a bit more....

I am also getting smooth centrecaps and another set with the VW logo as per the MK3 steelies.

Very nice - hope that the car gets the love it deserves and make sure you put some choice stretch on those rims!

Thanks guys! The stockies are growing on me more and more; don't think I will sell them. Just keep them as a spare set. I'll be getting only the finest tread for little mate - Nangkang 185/45/15s. Haha. Can get them online for 60 bucks a corner delivered.

Love this car, I remember considering it when it was for sale last.

May I ask where you can get your rubber that cheap from?

That thing looks so good with the G3 wheels and thin whitewalls.
G60s widened to about 8 with the stretch look would also look the ducks.

Am I dumb for asking why you have hoses coming through the grill like that?

I was going to hit up a small business on the GC who do wheel mods as I think that is an easier option than sending them away to someone like Whitehorse, but the Type A knockies are fairly cheap, so I thought I'd get them instead and ponder what to do with the steels.

I saw it on an eBay listing... I'll see if I can get it for you and shoot you a PM! They are Nangkang N2s.

Haha, I'm not going to question your intelligence, but that photo was from the previous owner and I guess that is the easiest route for the cooler lines . The cooler isn't currently fitted at the moment, but when I get round to it, I will see if I can route it another way. But I don't know if I will, as the grill is already cut to provide.

So I was a bit bored and found a scissor jack, so thought I'd whack on a new roller to see what it's like.

I reckon it'll transform the whole car. Can't wait to get tyres. I am thinking of leaving the tyres until I am back from Sydney and getting a RWC first... but I'll probably reverse that now. While I am sitting here typing this, I should have just put the steelie as a stand and jacked the wheel up, but I'm not a huge fan of dodgy things, although I'd probably have done it lolz0rdz.

I will have to get another jack or something as we have no wood (Dodgy Dave special) to lower the wheel onto so I can compress the spring as it were sitting on the ground. I imagine the wheel will come in a bit once it's lowered etc, and might need to hit the guards again with a roller/trolleypole/mallet.

Also gonna need some biiiiiiiiig hubcentric rings! About 15mm I believe.

Well, I'm hoping that when it is lowered on the ground and the spring compresses, it'll settle down, also with neg camber as well. I do have easy access to a guard roller, and it seems they have been hit at some point in the past. But I could definitely get more out of them with some swear words and persistence! I hate doing it, so am going to avoid it if I can
