When are you moving to Melb? Are you going to get involved in the scene over here?
I change my mind often, plus I wanted something that wasn't common on a Mk1. I bought some HTN Rennsports quite a while ago... then they popped up on every show car in Europe, so they got the arse in favour of something no longer in production I also decided 14s looked too small and the ride height required to have them looking 'right' meant front wheel travel was basically gone.

Work commitments mean I have to move to Melb at the end of November... I'll keep my Tassie rego for obvious reasons, though. Happy to meet you guys and let some people have a drive of the car, though. Along with Mike and Ed (builders some other very fine metal), I keep to myself and don't participate much in the scene down here.

I've had to pull the arches further at the back of the car to fit the rear wheels, so I've also had to respray both sides (only way to ensure no mismatched colour...). I've gone to great lengths to make the arches look standard. I don't like arch extensions as they destroy the poke factor and make the wheels look too narrow

While I respect your wishes to keep to yourself, it'd be awesome to see you becoming a regular around the Melb VW scene. We have some pretty cool meet up's and a good friendly crowd

As Dom said, the scene is what WE make it

              • Just had a quick browse through this thread. Looks really good!

Was that a partial Linaris Blue paint job in the original photo?
There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...

It's actually a very early Nissan/Datsun metallic - called 'light blue metallic' (how original!). I'd have the paint code somewhere... There were several different shades
