Very nice, makes me want to do it again .....

                        See my old MK1 here:

BTW, in South Africa where they still build MK1s, they have new bumper bars, front fenders and grills for a more modern look. Also smoked tail lights etc.....

No offence intended, but I can't stand the SA Mk1 parts!! I'm lost on why everyone thinks parts are hard to find. There is NO car of this vintage with so many items available for it - both original and aftermarket

Should have kept your old car aswell, Sharkie

It's just a very clean car really - hence why I chose white this time. Didn't want to lose any of the factory shapes or contours so everything has been carefully worked around and powercoated rather than chromed etc. I'm even thinking I'll paint the intake. I'm not using the Gotti wheels on this car either; I think I'll put them back on the blue car. Getting it engineered with small brakes creates problems, though

The engine is careful mix of parts, using part of the BBM serial killa turbo kit and other bits and bobs out of Europe.

The ECU is a VEMS with a plug and play kit, using both the ABF TPS and an internal MAP for load sensors. It also uses the stock ABF crank trigger wheel for spark so it's distributorless with a 20vT wastespark coilpack with the factory ignitors removed. The single ABF injector plug has been converted to a 4-plug Bosch style setup using 500cc injectors and a Sard rising-rate regulator. I've swapped out the VL turbo pump with an 044 Motorsport instead. A Bosch ECU is piggybacked on to run the VDO dashboard and MFA. It is setup to run anti-lag with a throttle kicker and also has launch control with the torque limited in the first couple of gears - much like a Focus RS. I'm yet to install an LSD as I doubt I'll keep the 02A gearbox, so traction control will suffice for now!

The turbo is the 3rd one I've bought :-s and is a Garrett T3/T4 57 trim with an external Turbosmart Ultragate. It's oil-cooled only, so the feed is straight out of the factory port on the head and then a -10 bung is welded straight onto the sump.

We managed to swing a deal with Turbosmart to run all their parts on the car in exchange for an excellent staff price so big ups to them

Waiting on silicone to finish the piping, which now won't come in until the new year

All in all, a fairly straightforward process and certainly something different
