Have you used one Mick? from what I can find they are stock depth just have the kickout to increase capacity. would be interesting to know if the oil pickup needs shortening and how much clearance it saves you if they are shallower
Fair point I'm not sure if it's lower. I've got one in the shed for a rainy day. I might measure it.

Look into some newer car seats. Check Peugot, Honda etc for a more bucket style seat that will still be nice and look OEM.

Ah so more and more things keep coming before this poor mk1

The thermo fan is getting low voltage, and thus my car gets hot in any sort of traffic.
The ignition barrel doesn't work at all, unless i push in the back of it and jiggle the key.
The tacho isn't wired up so i wait til the engine is screaming at me
The wiring is a mess, and the shop that i got to do it haven't really fixed that much.. but the above issues, and most importantly, <- that will be rectified tomorrow morning after 'discussions', so no bad feelings held.

I've been driving my rents car/public transport in the meantime, but i dusted her off and went out to the downshift meet at Rocklea, got a few looks, and heaps of pics! due to the unreliability of the mk1 (and resulting peevyness of the rents) and need for a courier vehicle for my uni hols anyway, i'm picking up a hilux tomorrow so the mk1 will get the title of weekend car . which means big plans!

speaking of which, what are some nice bucket or sports seats to suit the mk1? will need to consult my modplate guy for legalities surrounding them still though..

anyway! a pic from the meet, still need to pick up some smaller tyres so i can wind the coils down further

195/50s on 15x7s. Cheers man! Should be more progress in about a months time, the car spending has to take a back seat for now

Glad it is getting some love. Those wheels have been around but are always looking awesome!
Will definitely get onto both of those! Any recommended places to pick up one of those sumps

coils in, guards rolled, and sitting 100mm at the lowest point now (sump) any solutions to the sump hanging so low? are there slimline ones available? just need to buy some smaller tyres and i can go lower without scrubbing

    Thanks mate!

Anyway, progress! all of my electrical issues came down to fuse #6.. the hazard lights fuse. i reckon it's wired up so that it also runs the ignition barrel and whatnot, which would explain why i couldn't do anything last night. feel kinda stupid having spare fuses in the glovebox, albeit i didn't have a spanner to disconnect the battery so i would have probably blown another trying to get it in there. fusebox is a tad more secure for now (zipties) until i have time to run all the wiring properly. a mate of mine got the temp gauge working again, and is putting the fan on a switch and coils in this arvo, while i go learn how to use forklifts (haha) and fill out lots of safety paperwork... joy!
