Hahaha, just take the fender off and refill i guess. I never use the water squirter thing, its just there incase i run into any authority's. Pretty silly to take off the fender i know, but im compromising a nice bay for practicality LOL

Haha! You're crazy. That's dedication to a neat bay. Be careful putting your radiator header tank under the other guard. Make sure that the opening is above the water level in the radiator.

I'm pretty sure that they are ok to be removed, as well as the expansion tank.

you should make like a filtered rain gutter that goes into your washer bottle so it gets refilled every time it rainshaha.nah plastic weld a pipe that sticks out on the side of the engine bay or something ?

a couple of ideas for your washer bottle (because I dont like the idea and I think you will regret it the first time you head into the sun and you have no water to clean the windscreen, sorry)....

If you are not fussed about how tidy the hatch area is you could mount it easily in there on the outside of a trim.

Inside the car behind a trim? That way you could just pop the clips and refill it. A lot easier than removing a guard.

What would be particularly neat is to have one of those little doors to open like what are in the back of all the late model car boots.

With a different bottle you might also be able to mount it under the spare wheel at a pinch?

Unless you wanted to go real overkill crazy and weld in another fuel filler on the opposite side (cooper S style) and mount the bottle behind it.

Hey mate, you raise some very good ideas and points. However it doesnt really bother me. To be honest the whole time i have driven any car, i never really used the washer bottle or jet. So on that basis, i thought i dont need to go all out. Its just there incase i run into authoritys.

Otherwise i do like the idea of it being where the spare wheel is, but i will be running the air bag gear in there, including the battery so wont have any space.

So 95% of cleaning the chassis is done. A bit more tomorrow and its ready for paint. Ive never painted before, so im going to borrow my mates compressor and ima buy some primer and a spray gun. Hopefully ill get the hang of it soon, its only the chassis anyway, perfect for learning.

Hours and hours of work with the wire brush on a grinder.





Also fab'd up two tabs to hold up the washer jet line - as to avoid contact with the wipers. Heres a test fit with some string





Was going to wait to get a perfect 2" hole saw, but buying a metal one is pretty expensive and i couldnt justify it, so i just grabbed the grinder and made do. Obviously once i get some 2" pipe ill make it perfect

After trying numerous products and speaking to many 'professionals', i have finally found a supplier of POR15 in Melbourne which has good prices. It was way too costly to import from the states, but now its do-able. Thanks to David (scotty65) for the help.

Time to get rid of rust permanatly.







I was also walking round the wreckers and found this little seat. Its from a Holden (opel) Astra and i kinda like it. I just dont like the leather. Ill see if i can find a complete set and try make up some brackets for it.

Haha bud, seeing you car - you dont need any but narh a place in hoppers crossing. Not sure the exact name.

And twincab, ive heard similar comments like that and have been chasing this since ! Only problem is that i have to use water to clean off the phosphate - now im just thinking how the **** do i do that without getting water in crevices inside the cabin and foot well :S

looking very clean underneath, Sort of wish i had done a complete strip down and clean and re-spray on mine if i had the money, knowledge and tools to take the engine out and rebuild it i might have gone ahead with it!
