This is one of the F3 engine builder's. The complete head's aren't cheap as would be expected, but everthing else is reasonably priced.

I had a word with the guy from MMI and he is building a cheap ass grenade race motor just for fun to see how much he can get out of a 1800 8v using stock parts. He has had some input from a couple of good guys with runs on the board and thinks it will come up with a silly rev limit and a bit of poke for a tin top.

i once met an old man who lived(RIP) in a caravan next to an aeroplane hanger and used golf motors with wolf management to fly aeroplanes. he made these metal caps that went over the big end bearings. he said this would give it a couple of extra thou day in and day out. i would have to trust him as he did have 3 aeroplanes with 1.6 donks in them.

and no he didnt die from engine failure! i wish i could have got the mintest 77 2dr alpine white he had sitting there for 25 years. mint like most people could only dream of. im making myself sad just thinking of it..

I've got a link from my saved as favorite's but don't know how to post it up. It's a link to a Scirocco that had a stageIII drake engine upgrade soon after the car was brand new & made 143bhp @ 6000rpm & susprisingly made 138ft.lb @ 2000rpm. I'll say not bad for a 1.6L!

On a similar note, has anyone got any more information on Graf VW heads?

Similar idea as Drake, some aftermarket tuner, but information is so thin on the ground.
