Yes I was thinking a NEW set of plugs might be in order. Dennis did a glow plug bypass with a bigger relay and bigger wiring to reduce the voltage drop. He said he timed the pump from the Haynes manual with a dial indicator when he put it together (i'm not sure of the specifics because i've never done it). It runs really well and it's EDIT- NOT smokey when it warms up..
I'll have to come for a run up your way when I get the chance and see what you reckon. I'm considering a blower setup later down the track when I finish the 16v if I don't sell the car..
