Very interesting picture, did you build the cross body brake tube specially to suit the car or from plans? This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time and and tips would be much appreciated.

Hi,that is an Autocavan Superbrake bar that is a rare bit of kit fron the Autocavan company ,they were made up to the mid eighties they still appear on ebay occasionally and Club Gti in the uk is I think considering running a group buy on them

I have a Superbrake bar in my Mk1 - imported it from the UK. I have to say they're not that great if you don't brace the booster area, though. Instead of the flex running through the bar like in the standard linkage, it just transfers onto the booster mount!

I'm yet to modify mine further, but it does need doing to get better results.

I like the idea of only a couple of pivot points to reduce the slop in the brake linkages instead of the 6 of the standard setup. Anything to make the MK1 brakes better.

Looks like the easiest way is to build my own. I'm putting in a brake booster off a 97 polo so I'll make it to suit that booster. Thanks for the tip on bracing the booster, I'll over engineer that part.

I have been running the Autocavan set up for a couple of years and have had no trouble with it but will have a close inspection around the servo frame just to make sure,thanks for pointing it out.

On another note seam welded and powder coated front wishbones have just come back so that a little job for one weekend this month

Been away a while (not as in away staying at HMP!!) so 2012 was a very busy year for my MK1 ,O2J gearbox conversion,solid Alloy top mounts, custom front A/R/B ,bias pedal box,the above mentioned wishbones to mention just a few things will post up some pictures later ,2013 plans include Audi S2 caliper upgrade, Stainless steel filler neck ,S/S fuel tank straps and a Kamei front spoiler.
