The front are also adjustable but the grey MK1 has Seat Cupra hubs and brakes so the coilovers won't fit onto the MK1 hubs. The holes don't match and they are wider.








So I have two options. Modify the coilovers to suit the MK1 hubs or swap the Cupra hubs (with 280 mm disks) to the white MK1.

I finally got round to addressing the real reason why the car handles so badly - the bumpsteer caused by installing hub extenders but not offsetting the steering arms to compensate.

The hub extender corrects the roll centre on lowered MK1's but the steering arm should be moved under the mount, not left above it.



I took the arm off but found out why previous owners haven't mounted it properly - it's tapered so won't fit from underneath. How do I get around this?



For now I've taken the hub extenders off so the car is back to VW standard steering geometry and it drives much better. Back to being a fun car.

Spax shocks in the rear, KW still in the front. None of my other front shocks lower the car enough but the KW's have to go - way too stiff. The Spax on the rear are on a soft setting so much nicer.

Stance is getting there.
