            • Here we go,

The system is in and running, needs a few touch ups but as you will hear it hammers. Decided to get rid of the voltage display and put the old school radio back in, i like it better that way.

Sorted out the rear parcel shelf and re trimmed a few other bits.........i like suede!!

I love this part, NEW CHROME AND SEALS!! Takes at least 13years off the car. Fixed up some of the rust under the old seals as well, lucky it wasn't anything serious. Also took the badges of to painstakingly refurbish them....previous owner used glue and therefore there was rust underneath.

Cut this out and attempted to weld it but ended up blowing right through so im guna get it fixed next week.

              • Its all these little bits that always do my head in. As your doing them something always seems to brake! Had to replace the bonnet release cable....in 32degre heat....**** YOU CAR!

Threw on the short shifter, works well. And found a filter that fits and threw that on as well. The carbie gaskets isnt leaking anymore either, the car starts straight away but still wont idle below 2k rpm. Im thinking the tach is off because 2k rpm doesn't sound like 2k.

Today I also made my own gear gator out of...you guesses it, suede! Im happy with the result. Im going to shorten the gear shifter though, its way to tall.
Ive ordered RHD Crystal X-hairs, some chrome bits and bobs for the engine bay, oil catch can is waiting to go in and Im prity sure im going to order chrome mirrors.
Cut and polish tomorrow, brakes and alignment on Monday, get the exhaust modified again on Tuesday, VIC roads on Wednesday and small wheels and slamage Wednesday afternoon. If all goes well ill have a new set of wheels for SEDF too
Theres still stacks of little shiz to do but i dont wana think about that lol

                    • Cut and polish came out great, as usual, thanks to my good mate Moz. Paint is getting very thin in places though but a respray is on the agenda later in the year. To protect everything for now i got myself a weather proof car cover.
Here are the results, before and after:

                      • There is a lot of detailing to be done. I got stuck in today after picking up the car cover.
Started by painting or re furbishing most of the plastic bits, took the bonnet off to paint the underside and polished up the slam panel everything else under bonnet apart from the engine bay. Ive also painted all the little bits and bobs like the bonnet latch, bonnet holder etc etc.
Once ive finished with the exterior ill clean and polish the door jams then move on to polishing the engine bay and all the bits that got covered in over spray. Ill repaint the rocker cover and cam cover as well as dress everything up a bit more. Once that is done ill move on to finishing and detailing the interior. All of this stuff is a PITA!
Unfortunately i don't think there will be enough time before SEDF for me to fit the 2way paging alarm system with microwave sensor, central locking, courtesy light that i built and automatic window closing system.

Good meeting you too mate. Steve the exhaust guy is a good bloke, he does some quality work.

I think this time around we used Maguiars Medium Cuting compound with a slity more abrasive pad on the buffer because it was covered in overspray as it sat in a panel shop for 6months without plastic over it. After the first round we went over it again with a less abrasive pad then gave it a polish with Maguiars Deep shine polish or something, that was ofcorse done by hand, wax on wax off. Went over the car again with a clean cloth and then rinsed it off. We did the windows aswell inside and out in the same way. PAIN IN THE ASS!
Took about 2hrs and in the sun it lasts about 3months if you don't maintain it with a weekly wax. Solid red paint is the worst so wax weekly.
Last time when my mate still had his shop we used Autoglym cuting compount and wax/polish protectant with the same method but only one, less abrasive, pad and we added some really expensive polish stuff to finish it off aswell. I cant remember what it was but it was 3M and was in a black bottle, i think it was about $80 a bottle or something but it gave it a super deep shine, it was amazing.

Doesnt need anything fancy though, its just a mk1.
