van full of parts ariving tomorrow...including 210mm clutch, 16v pressure plate, lightened flywheel and numerous seals and bearings for the box/engine...
only problem is i've never actually done this job solo, so with a manual in hand and internet print outs here goes nothing ahah
aim is to have it ready to race again by 11th Nov at Eastern Creek track day.
so i've been working on changing the clutch over the last couple days in between work and uni...
this is where i'm up to at the moment...
i have installed the 16v pressure plate and changed the rear main engine seal...also changed the input shaft seal, pushrod bushing seal, release bearing and a few other bits in the box..oil seals behind the outpute flanges etc
once the clutch is done, i'm installing my bucket seat and setting up the catch can...all needs to by done by the 11th for racing.
next project in progress. purchased these off dub toffee (ben) the other day, awfully good nick for the coin.
going to heat wrap them and then get a new exhaust all the way through...new gaskets and nuts on order as well.
this should tie me over until the new year when i get some semi slicks and build my 2L bottom end.

picked up the car, got the headers installed today into a new exhaust 2 1/4 inch. i can definately tell a difference in the way car picks up and pulls, particularly in 2nd and 3rd, very happy with it.
will take some pics tomorrow as it is pooring in sydney at the moment. anybody who has had work done by brad at westside mufflers will know of the quality of work they produce out there.
where did you get the flywheel done? last time I looked around nobody wanted to know about it because they all said it looked too difficult (lazy more like).
'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension
'98 Mk3 Cabriolet 2.0 8V
'99 A4 Quattro 1.8T
so i took a few quick picks on the new headers/exhaust whilst checking a few things under the car today.
also took a pic of the catch can set up i did, still not 100% sold on how i did it, but will leave it as is until i can think of some other options...
i also got the bolster on the passenger side re-done, not sure how many of you would remember but it had a tear in it.
i will heat wrap the extractors when i drop the engine, hopefully before new year. i have a 2l with forged pistons, crank and balance which was built by my cousin a while back.
as for the flywheel, any place that machines brakes will do the flywheel, here in syd anyway...i just took in to a clutch and brake place, cost $60.
so here's something which doesn't happen very often?...coming home and went by another local mk1 which lives in the area, never seen it move until today when the owner was getting in it (forum member? white 2 door swallow tail bbs')...went past and gave it a bit of blaht as a razz...
owner then caught me at the lights and gave it the beans, i have been told it is a 20v turbo? but it was bloody quick and sounded awsome...due to traffic i didnt really get to have a tassle with him, probably safer option...so ripped a skid instead ha ha...that's my story bro...dope couple of minutes nonetheless ahah!
yeh mick he lives right after the roundabout where lyons road begins (Before you hit the bay) always seen him up working on it in his driveway. I got out n looked at it one day has a massive zorst i was thinking 20v turbo also. Funnier thing is when i looked at it close up the bbs rs dont have bolts on the lips how the hell are they being held together?
