pete, with the concave washer, i'm having trouble finding it from a dealer (or anywhere for that matter)...can i use an aftermarket washer? oe will this change the load that should be placed on the circlip?

by chance, is there another part number to the washer, because it seems to come up as a seal in the dealership parts systems....

      cheers.

      • If you get stuck Lloyd Davies at Volkswerke will be able to fish one out of a box of gearbox bits for you.

          • I found this place by Google'ing the part number Diagram 27 VW Rabbit, Jetta, GLI, Golf, GTI, R32 / Differential

Looks like 020 409 295 is the one to ask for.

            • I know its probably a bit late, but the PO obviously fitted a Pelolok kit from Peloquin diffs. I have fitted this kit myself and it is pretty good for the price. However, it appears the PO didn't put the circlip back in as they should have (and a new one is even supplied in the kit!!)

                • racing again on sunday...got the car sorted today....rear seat and spare tyre out...lowered in the back a little and a tank full of premium...should be a good day.

when doing my check over the car i noticed the drivers side brake line gromment had popped out of place and there was a small graze on the brake line...should this be cause for concern? i.e. a quick brake line replacement? it was very very minor, but i like to have peace of mind when having to stop from 100+ into a corner.

                      • there is something about driving around with a harness, two seats and a empty rear cabin...the car pulls so much harder with the extra weight...i think when i get a full time job (end of the year) i will strip the interior, get two sparco race seats, two momo harnesses, a cams approved 1/2 cage, massive front brake upgrade, semi-slicks all roung and put in the worked 2L i have lying about and have a dope weekender/track car! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

No need to worry. You have to scrape a lot off to weaken the line.

If you try to bend the line where it's grazed I bet you can't bend it without really having to force it.

                          • Post up your lap times. If possible link a few together and get the splits. I am very interested to see what she does around there. You'll have a great time (if it is not wet).

Hahaha i've noticed it too mate !! I drive my car daily without backseats and it feels so much better. Everytime i look in the back and see emptyness, i smile haha. Maybe its just the mentality of knowing theres nothing back there ..
