          • i have noticed a lot VR6 BBS wheels going cheap on the forum over the past 6 months or so...how hard would it be, or would it be worth my while to pick up a cheap set and get them welded and re-drilled for 4x100?

            i think they would be a practical wheel and look great on a MK1...or should I just save my pennies and get some ATS cups? (my favourite mk1 wheels) lol

            • NO, I'm pretty sure it would be a nightmare to do, and not worth the effort to do all that. After all they're only 6.5" wide, and et43, both aren't too flash for a mk 1.

              where as ATS cups on the other hand, 7" wide and et 20 or 28, much better option!

              Try and find a set in 8" wide, that would be phat!

                to be honest i know little about wheels! i just know what looks good but the specs ahah the car is my daily and i give it the beans and take for natio park runs frequently...i dont want to worry about scrubbing or taking all my fat girlfriends in the back because the car is not setup for just stance...would 8 wide give me this problem? or would 7's be better for what i'm doing?

                http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ATS-C...Q5fAccessories --> hmmmmmmm! i want.

                • yea, you might want to pass on the 8" wide, but it's still doable.

                  a 7" with a nice 195/45 would probably be best. You'll need an ET30 or less, (but generally only as low as ET20, and even then, might have slight rubbing issues, depending on ride height, rolled arches etc etc.)

                  There has been a set on ebay.com.au for sale for ages!

                              ahah how do you know jace?

                              hmm i'll have to look into...still a couple things on my list which need attention first.

                              it is very true that mk1's need a lot of tinkering..

                              yesterday one window winder decided to snap in half so i replaced them with 2 spares i had.

                              today i changed the oil and oil breather filter which was leaking

                              i also then decided to find out where a small oil leak was coming from..in doing so i decided to nip up the vacuum fitting in the carb manifold as it was loose...only to have it snap clean in half. i had to knock a torque spline into it and unwind it..so now the car has no vaccum ... i.e no breaks and its stuck in the garage

                              the car was also dropping in power occassionally today (never done this before) it may be either a tunning issue or the points on the dizzy are worn and the timing is getting thrown out a bit...i think i might switch to a factory electronic ignition setup soon

                              hmmm back 2 study.

                                Probably had something to do with the vac leak, dude. Was it idling irregular?
