Something else that I learnt while doing the wheel swaps. 15's don't fit over Cupra brakes.



Good thing I haven't converted the yellow car yet. It will get the 15's for now and I need to talk to an engineer about all the mods I want to do.

2 litre ABF 16v with twin Dellorto's
16's with bigger flares
Cupra brakes - but I might stick to the smaller brakes after driving the car when it's done. From what a few people have told me the bigger brakes aren't needed.
Cupra gearbox with hydraulic clutch

OK, I know I can dream but one day the yellow one will be back on the road.

And another life lesson.

The coilovers from grey don't fit in the yellow one.



Bolt holes don't match.



I found this out after spending a couple of hours in the hot sun, slaving away, sweating like the proverbial.



Time to kick back, get a cold one and wait for the sun to stop cooking me before going back out and putting the shocks back where they came from.

Or I can see what parts I have from the MK2 and Cupra and build a hub that takes the MK2 brakes, fits the MK1 control arms and axles and then fit the coilovers.

Naaaaw, think the coldie wins out.

Got these coming. Not sure if they will be wide enough to cover the 16's + adapters but will be fun trying.

Plus I've always wanted a Berg Cup replica.

Houston, we have a problem.

When I went to Sydney to get the 16 x 9's shown above I found these as well. Another set of 16's.





Bet you didn't know you can fit 8 wheels in a VF Calais.

It's funny how you don't notice something until much later when you look at the pictures.



I had to go and check the car to make sure the lower arm isn't cracked. Turns out it's just a leaf.....phew.

With all the wheels I have it's about time to sort them out and see what suits.

16 x 8. Needs more lows on the back.



Perfect fit.



The rat look is growing on me, especially with these wheels. Even the sun agrees.

Having the grey one is handy for experimenting with different wheels and flares.

16 x 9's with way too big tyres. At least I can see how far they stick out.



Even the red flares don't cover them.



Black flares might be too big.



Still experimenting. Red flares with 15 x 8's on the front, 16 x 9 on the back.
