Hey dude, firstly nice car. the newer citi's in SA go very very fast, and are very reliable, my dad and brother have owned many.

I do have my brother still living in SA however im unsure if he can help you out with shipping as he's very busy and i find it hard for him to ship ME anything.. however shipping should be relatively cheap, depending on the time frame you want the goods by.

If you are able to find some way of shipping things over, id love to do a bulk buy, and ill pay for shipping costs too

Dude, I'm in Brisbane too. We should meetup some time as I'm also interested in getting a Mk1 as a project car.

Citis are very hard to find in Australia so you've got yourself a seriously unique machine.

I'd go ahead with Loon's suggestion and then enjoy your pride and joy

I may be able to hook you up with some suppliers in SA. I'll look into it.

Just out of curiosity, when was your citi imported?

          Agree, 1992 Shuttles was 1.3

Later on a 1.6 Shuttle was available, but it was clearly marked on the back as a 1.6 and had a rev counter instead of the clock in the dash.

the small blocks(1.1, 1.3) tilt with by head forward and the rhs chassis mount is further forward, the big block engines(1.5, 1.6 and 1.sit with the top of the engine leaning to the rear. 1.6s normally have the water out let on the head coming out at an angle between the 1st and 2nd cylinder from the left as you face the engine, the 1.8s usually point straight out between the 3rd and 4th cylinder from the left as you look in the bay.

id go for a larger capacity bottom end and up the size of carburretor accordingly

You have to remember that VW South Africa was producing 1.3s till about 2001 and they were different to the 1.3s produced in the UK in the 80s .....

1.3s in South Africa was a totally new engine in the late 90s and very similar to the later 1.6s, also totally new in the late 90s.

My family has had about 5 Citis through the years and the last 1 was a new 2001 Citi 1.3 (Blue, can be seen in my pic thread linked in my signature below, post 3 in the thread next to the BMW 325ti) and the engine looked similar to this one.

Hey mate, sure sounds good...the Citi isnt rego'd yet but should be soon

I bought the car from the original owner, who imported it back in '98 when he immigrated from SA.

I would love the later model Citi, with the new dash etc, but pretty happy to settle for this one...dont think there would be any other '93 Mk1's in Australia, apart from Cabrio's

Yeah i am sure the original owner said it was a 1.3L, which makes sense reading SA specs of the Citi...it goes like a 1.3 to be honest, but it has done 220+kms.

Looks quite good. That's the stock look for that car, apart from the shiny wheels, yeah?

Glad you got your front end sorted out Mind if I ask how much it set you back?

Not planning on dropping it a bit, or bigger rims, or bigger exhaust?

just some stock wheels of a early 90's cabriolet...want to drop it, going to keep the 14" rims, and will do something engine wise down the track

front grille is the original, want a badgeless one but havent sorted out courier service etc in South Africa

I would leave it exactly as it is and drop it about 40mm.

And keep the VW badge so people know what it is...
