  • Alex's GTI Project

Hey all its about time that i start posting some pics and get some advise from other drivers
    i have a 1983 gti mk1 1.8L
i bought the car as a project so i can do something with my time and learn a few things along the way as well
its 2 door and was originally white

This is how i got it ☝

it had a fare bit of rust and damage done to the car, so first part was to fix body work and re paint
i should mention that many of my family and friends are mechanics so did help

i chose to keep it white and re paint it with the candy white which was seen on a lot of great looking mk5's

    car in shop

    being painted

it has been painted now but haven't taken any photos,
the only pics i have are of the finished doors and boot

    more to come soon

by the way, was the car for sale for around $6000?

edit: pretty sure is, from the rust and the owner telling me that he sold it to some guy in Melbourne.

                  pretty cool dude.

Yep. AFAIK this is a genuine Campaign model (although, no P-slots ... hmm).

Loosely. AFAIK he never actually put a firm price on it. At least that was the story when I was speaking with the previous owner about buying the car.

looks to have green tinted glass and the year is about right, but I don't think that the sunroof nessecarily indicates campaign.

hey all thanks for the comments, yeah i am planning on keeping it as orignal as i can

                            UPDATES

Wheels and coilovers were bought from Dom off the forum, couldn't miss a chance at a set of wheels like these

Finally finished paint, but carpet and seats are almost done and to be put in some time this week

i think the next thing on the agenda is the engine work to be done, i would really like to get it back up to around the original or more HP it came out with, but dont want to do an engine swap of any kind
