You're right Jay, it is great fun when you are up that high in the range, but it is in the everyday section of the range I am focussing on now with the exhaust and possibly plugging in some larger injectors. Once the exhaust is on I will take it on the dyno again.
i think the easiest way to do that would be to buy an adjustable cam gear.. advance the cams a couple of degrees and dial in your ignition timing.
i've been playing with my adjustable cam gear lately and i can have my cam kick at like 5000 or 2000 just by adjusting it a 3 or 4 degrees in either direction.
techtonics do some pretty cheap ones. just make sure you get some different fasteners cause they allen key heads strip like crazy.
I have $150 credit with ECS and they have one but it only has 6 degress +/- for $170
The Techtonics is 8 degrees +/- for $140
And then Autotech 10 degrees +/- for $135
How 'self install' is it? - I just checked the Bentley, I would give it a go if it was not for the 'special tool' needed for the 16v tensioner. Should probably replace the belt at the same time and the tensioner as it is only another $35.
I`d get the first pulley, or the last one. The TT ones can get stripped bolts real easy. The first one looks nicely made.
They should not be tinkered with lightly, you can do terrible things to the engine if you dont know what you are doing.
