  • My Golf Rebuild

Just thought I`d show you some pics of my golf build so far.
The shell has just got back from the paintshop (the only bit I`m not doing myself). It is sprayed VW Oak Green, which was a 16v Mk 2 colour.

The shell is a 1976 5 Door and is straight as an arrow, never been welded. I have a 2L 16v Motor from a 1992 Passat and have to plumb this baby in.

So far I have fitted a Golf Diesel tank, and put the rear brakes on.
I also butchered the back panel and put the later style GTI ligts in. They are not lined up yet and I will have to go back and redo, but they look awesome I think.

Should finish tinting the glass and put it back in. Then it`ll look like a car.

Ive showed you mine, now show me yours!

    Good pics!

Looking good. Lights are excellent. Pics need to be downscaled a bit. I reckon you need to learn a graphics programme and resize! Got a couple of square metres of floor for the wife and me to kip on?? Be up to the smoke in a flash to see the car! (and teach you a bit about images!)

I didn`t even prep the shell. I stripped it and took it there yellow and collected it green. Its like glass the finish though.
Cost me $1500 for 2 Pac Metallic VW Oak Green. Baked in an oven.
I`m happy with it, but there are a couple of marks inside the doors that he will touch up for free when the car is going. Oh yeah he colourcoded some stuff for me as well, included in the price

Late 80s early 90s cabrio grille! Fewer slats and more cool! The oldskool ones look good with chromies though. Dunno which I`ll go with.

Actually bought them like that from ebay uk. My mate brought them over in her backpack. Still have to finish butchering the back panel to make them fit fully flat.

Why do you need to butcher it? Does it have the correct beaver panel?
