Well, been a little while since a update.

Have just fitted new springs and shocks, its a tad higher then it was before, but a bit more practical.

Have GTi front and rear swaybars ready to go on
GTi Front vent Rotors and GTi Calpiers Fitted now
          Front Lower Brace Fitted
Factory parcel shelf found and fitted
          Sports wheel and bosskit fitted
          Better condition door cards fitted
          Electric Fuel pump fitted

Engine is nearly ready to pull out, all the damn Driveshaft allen key bolts are stripped...

Got a 1.8L with weber carby, Extractors, Electric Dizzy to drop in.
Also a 2" exhaust system to fit.

Have some comfy seats out of some other car (dunno what) with custom mounts all done. will fit these soon

So ya, been busy , more to come and some pics hopefully

I don't think you get this place, 1) you ditched the Superlights, best lookign wheel on a Mk1 eva 2) you went higher?

On a more positive not i like the plans for the engine. Should be a ripper but put the Super lights on please.

              i do get this place

              1) i rely on this car daily, so i cant risk a defect with the superlites on. do you realise how far they poke out?

2)its about 10mm higher, but our roads aint the best, so that extra 10mm will be nice

And yes the engine is a ripper, drove it in the donor car i pulled it out of and man did it fly

so she is back up and running again.

few Q's (yes im paranoid lol)

1)Whats oil pressure roughly supposed to be? mine goes up to neat 65psi when i hit the loud pedal, and will sit at 40psi when im in 4th at 50kays.

                              2) Gauge says its hot (3/4 on gauge) fan kicks in and then drops, heats up more at idle. but water doesnt feel that hot, hot enough to not be able to hold finger in for like 3-4 seconds lol.

                              3) Was a slight trace of some milky **** under cap, and a little around lip under valve cover. Should i be worried? engine has been sitting for over 12months prior ro me starting it today. Ive changed cam, clucth, flywheel, some gaskets, oil and filter, ect ect.

4)What cause the timing to "bounce" ? timing mark looks perfect with timing light, then all of a sudden the mark jumps to the left about 10mm for a few flashs and then goes back :S

Anyway, will tinker tomorrow and see what i can do

1- Oil Pressure sounds OK. It will go up (to a point) when the revs come up..

2- Gauge or temp sender might be faulty.. Maybe dirty connection? If it was too hot you'd know about it when you stuck your finger in the coolant!

3- If your water goes murky, or your oil, you're in trouble. If it's a bit of crap under the cap, i wouldn't be too concerned. You may also get condensation under the oil filler cap the first couple of times you start it if it has been sitting around. Don't be too concerned (unless it doesn't go away).
