Looking very nice mate, but how the hell could someone judge a 'new' Beetle to be better then that at VW Jamboree?? The only effort they'll have made would be to take it for a service and for a set of rims. Not nurtured or cared for etc etc . . . . . . . . beggars belief!!
Chris
Very surprised the aircooled boys went with a modern version of a classic rather than one in it's own right. Congrats on the second place tho' there's no shame in coming 2nd as I'm going to have to keep telling myself at the end of the footy (soccer) season!!!

Reason: missed a bit
wicked! def take some pictures, interested to see what it looks like!
what are your plans for it when it's off the road?
Hey mate,
The plans are to pretty much take it apart to search for rust. Then to clean everything and put it back together and replace what needs replacing.
Will need to do some paint touching up too as I have some special badges coming for the rear
Also plan on getting the front bumper straightened and re-chromed.
Many plans, little money. Eventually I want a heron motor matched up to a rebuilt auto. Don't know if I will turbo it anymore though. Still researching that one.
So, today I went to a breakers yard and found an old cassette player with am/fm radio in a mk1. It also has an Auxiliary input which is the reason I took it. My plan is to take it apart and see what makes the Aux input, then transfer it over to my 'Pressmatic Delux' radio.
I also got another dash mat, some rear lights, a new bonnet latch and best of all, a kamei door pocket with cup holder! The passenger side one had been taken but the person left the drivers side
I also bought some stuff from another website and from the moonequip website in the US. Couple of other things as well, you will have to wait and see though
So, since moving to the gold coast, not too much has changed.
The roof racks came off during transport from Melbourne and has damaged the paint under the raintray/rails. Now to get the transport company to replace them (Cheapest set I have found that are similar are 240 pounds + shipping from the UK).
Before I left for the Gold Coast I had some Toyo 165x50x15s mounted on the Riken Turbos. Unfortunately, I need 15mm spacers and long wheel bolts to mount them to the Golf as they foul on the brake caliper (even after Dom got the angle grinder out ) I then need some 23mm rear spacers to even things up.. Either that or Ill sell them ($1500 ono.)
Coilovers have been ordered and will be here soon
Now to sweat and suffer in the Gold Coast humidity
Alright so heres an update. In my own garage now and the strip down has begun.

^ The rear euro quaters were stuck on with silican so this needs to be attended to asap.
^ Found this, not too bad. Won't take much to fix.
^ Interior half stripped, getting there.
^ Damage from when the roofracks came off during transport. Transport company being asshats and trying to get out of it. $250 roof racks down the drain
