Plans are a Heron motor on some nice carbs (no K-Jet anymore as I cbf stuffing around with the fuel system)

either a 4sp diesel box or 5sp box going in.

Coilovers should be here soon, need to get some spacers to fit the rikens though.

I am getting the car ready for a paint job but have not decided on colour yet. Its between a light yellow colour, miami blue or white.
      cool!

Yeah Blue is very nice (esp Miami blue) but it would require a lot more prep work than say, a lighter shade of yellow. Plus, the yellow I am thinking of would look great with the wheels and interior I am planning.

This is the yellow that I am planning.

There are some other nice yellow cars out there though... makes it a tough decision.

i think either way cam, there's a far bit of prep work involved with either colour change. do it once do it right imo

Alright guys and girls, its come down to this..

I need a second car so Betty will be coming back on the road pretty soon. I will need to fix the bits of crappy paint and little bits of rust.

First however, there are some things I need to do and have now thankfully got the cash for.

Tell me what you think and if I can improve on this..

                    Engine:
                    Heron 1600cc motor
                    Kent GS1 (280deg) cam
                    Kent vernier pulley
Weber 32-36 carb on passat manifold with decent filter.
                    GTI oil cooler
                    ???4-2-1 extractors perhaps???
                    ???Larger radiator???

                    Drivetrain:
                    4sp Mk1 GLD gearbox
                    lightened flywheel
                    bigger clutch

                    Suspension/Chassis:
                    Coilovers (hottunnings on the way)
                    SuperPro Polyurethane Bushings (all around)
                    Mk1 GTI brakes
                    22mm stub axel spacers
                    15mm H&R hub centric spacers

Then there’s the external trim that I need which includes chrome side trim, rear euro spats, front cl spoiler, grill and cabby opening quarter vent windows.

Tell me what you think and give any suggestions you think could help.

Don’t forget, I don't want an all out bruiser which is why I am going heron motor, I just want a fun little mk1 with a bit of get up and some retro flare

                      Hey all.

Bit of an update on old yellah.

Got my new personalised plates in the mail today, they read 77GLS so will top it off nicely, I bought a parts car for a manual conversion. It also contains a weber on a passat manifold, extractors and a sports exhaust so these will all make there way onto the 77.

I got my metal fuel cap chromed for $25 and am really happy with it, I am going to take all of my parts that I want chromed to this guy. Bit exxy with straightening and rechroming bumpers though.. $575 each.

My mate Allan (walshydub) and I pulled up my carpet and foam and found NO rust at all underneath so we had beers to celebrate.

I have my new heron motor and coilovers coming this week so keep an eye open for updates.

Where did you get that fuel cap from?
                          76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
                          76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car
76 MkI 3 door "long term" project

Those are the cleanest floors I've ever seen on a mk1. No wonder you had beers!

                              Thanks guys.

Static, the metal fuel cap was on my car, I just stripped it and got it chromed.

AWESOME, the coilovers arrived today. Also, my Heron motor and other bits and peices to finish my baby off. The truck driver decided though, the motor was too heavy to pull off the truck so I don't get that until tomorrow...

Never mind, the coilovers will (hopefully) go on today and the rest will go on tomorrow (bar the motor/trans).

Pics later if I have time.
